ummmm i know this may sound idiotic as i am not to sure about the whole fasting thing,is it not worth waking up really early before the sun rises and load in some calories and then quickly go and train? or when the sun goes down pack in the calories and then go and train? i am not sure how it works but please dont slate me for my ideas just trying to think of a winning situation for all the fasting members of the forum

Basically, for us durban and surrounding areas, our fast start at around 5am and we break fast at around 6:40pm at the moment! Not eating or drinking anything the whole day, kinda takes its toll on me! I feel really tired when i get home, so even when i eat, i just feel like passing out! So no energy to train, then the case of training early in the morning, what time am i gonna train, 3am? I just cant wake up! Battle to get up at 4am just to eat! But this is suppose to be a "spritual detoxing" period! I dunno, if i could just find some energy to train after breaking fast, that would do good. Then i can get in 2/3 meals before the next days fast...Thanks for your input DJ..

Maybe try taking a heat when you break fast. I cant even imagine how tired you must be, i have an idea but not to the same extent as you and the others fasting

oh ok i understand now,i dunno, i would maybe think of doing a mass builder at 3:00am whilst still in bed, 4:30 wake up and shovel in some carbs and protein as much as i could stomach and then by 5:30 -6:00am i would be able to train... 7:00pm -10pm i would just eat a meal ever hour.. thats maybe how i would do it but i guess i dont know how i would handle seeing i dont do it... but good luck whilst on your fast and i hope that it doesnt cause to much muscle loss

Just an idea I got. If you had to eat a very high fibre diet before sunrise and sunset would this not perhaps help. The fibre should lower the GI of the foods you eat and slow down digestion so you have more stable blood sugar levels and perhaps energy for a longer time period with a reduced period of hunger. This will also help with the absorption of vitamins etc and provide you with more energy during the fast

Thanks for you guys input, @DJ, the trouble with training at 6am is my fast has begun so no water during and no shake after training would kinda suck! So i would rather train after breaking fast, that way i could eat after training!

@BEESTING Hi fibre? Would eating all bran flakes with a protein shake surfice?

I was looking it up after I posted. There are two types of fibre, soluble and insoluble and soluble fibre is the one you want as this is the type that slows down digestion. Bran flakes contain both types, not sure of the ratio though. Also fruits and veggies will help so I reckon have as much as possible. This will allow longer digestion of proteins and carbs and of a multivitamin and thus better absorption. It wont stop the tiredness and low energy levels completely but I think it may help. Just dont introduce high amounts of fibre too quickly if you dont usually eat a high fibre diet.

Fasting is going nicely,im burning lots of fat in the 1st few days already(Yaaaay me).Just scared to lose the muscle but i try to hibernate in the day,do as little physical activity as i can,i sit behind a desk the whole day.I split my workouts to 3 times a week at night, nothing intense, just keeping the muscles active.

The food issue:I eat as healthy as possible,no samoosas, pies, roti you know all that goes with the night meals, and eating cleaning doesnt make me feel bloated at night even though i eat alot. And my stomach shrinks dramatically during the day,so i cant also shove down a ton of food at night.

Morning meal(sehri): 100g oats,2 slices brown toast,5 egg white with 1 yolk,some chicken strips with cottage cheese,500ml water,500ml milk + my smoothie(60g whey,1 banana,mixed nuts,peanut butter,strawberry,yoghurt)....Thats all i can get down at that time.

Night meal(iftaar): Smoothie(60g whey,1 banana, mixed nuts, peanut butter, strawberry, yoghurt),about 5 dates,1ltr water....then an hour later i have a full meal of like steak with sweet potatoe or brown rice, veggies etc.and an hour after i train and then i have another high protein smoothie and some oats.

I basically shove in as much carbs and protein as i can during the night and the morning,i dont think it really matters because i wont get fat and i dont eat a crumb or drink a drop of water during the day...so the night meals are just about overload, overload, overload. And i have more than enough energy to train.

I would like to know how you guys do it.

@DJ, my friend, when your tummy is empty, you dont exactly think about sex...I heard a lecture where the Moulana(priest) says if your dont sleep or dont eat, the body wont worry about what the eye sees...Its true!

At tiny, you eating well bro, i dont even eat 1/3 of what you eating...I really battle!
