Butcheries in Cape Town was created by Furk
Hi gents,

Feels like it’s been ages since I’ve had a forum visit. Apologies to threads I took part in and didn’t contribute further.

I’m new in Cape Town and aside from ridiculous prices, I’m having troubling finding a decent butchery/ supplier of bulk meats. Internet searches just pop up the gourmet places in Greenpoint/ Mouille ect. Any CT inhabitants with tips they would like to share? Disappointed that obtaining off-cuts and organ meats are so hard to find (pro tip: cheap food high in Iron and Vit-B ideal for Ketogenic dieting :P ). I stay in Seapoint, and from what I hear the outlying regions have more butcheries and such facilities.

Thanks in advance.

Yo man,

I've never purchased off cuts or organ meat so couldn't comment on that , but check out this site

www.worldofmeats.co.za/find/butchers/western-cape-cape-town

i have used it before to find a decent butcher when i was in an unfamiliar area.

DC meats,Blaauwberg Meat Specialities and Britos are all big franchises, so i would phone a few on that list and ask them if they could accommodate your needs.

I think you scared off everyone with your organ meats talk bud. I never really see any really good meat specials in Cape Town unless it's the Northern Suburbs. Meulen Foods in Parow have some really good prices often. Rump for R69/KG. A few months ago they had fillet for R100/KG.

If you're ever in the Boland, Trastevere butchery in Wolseley sells rump steak for R69/kg standard and very lean steak mince for around R75/kg

Dunno so much about the organ meat
Best I can do is chicken livers and don't even let me see them raw!!!!

I used to buy filleted chicken breasts in bulk (1992) from a Halal butchery in Fordsburg. (no I'm not radical or fundamental or any kind of ist with the exception of atheist or maybe piss artist)

My point is, if you looking for clean protein source in bulk, maybe a local Halal butcher.
How clean???
Back then no one really cared about battery chickens, antibiotics, etc, etc.

But was just a thought.

Taste of liver has totally grown on me. Haven't developed a taste for kidneys yet - never liked them. Shot for the response Oupiel.

Check out "SkaapLand" butchery in High street village in Durban road, Bellville. Lots of specials and think you might even be at luck with the organ meats ;)
Theres also a place oppisite Sanlam Centrum in voortrekker road parow that is worth checking, cannot remember the name.
I buy my meat in Moreesburg at the local butchery in main road whenever I go past there. They also have the best bacon, and chilli bacon biltong on the planet :P

Every morning you have two choices : continue to sleep with your dreams, or get up and chase them......!!!
