I tried Jim stoppani's 12 week to size last night and I am dead, so stiff i can hardly move. Its a periodization workout using rest pause/ drop sets etc.
Week 1, 4 sets of 12-15 reps
Week 2, 4 sets of 9 - 11 reps
Week 3, 3 sets of 6 - 8 reps
Week 4, 4 sets of 3 to 5 reps
Week 5 - 12 repeat.

My question is what do you think of such a workout, i am currently cycling some gear so wondering if this is fine?

Big? Ha ha i never pinned him as big, looks more like a crossfit build or something. Wonder what his weight and height is, he looks pretty tall.

Doing cardio in between sets sounds awful!
Hi5 to anyone who gets through that.

Good luck with the rest of the program. Let us know what kind of progress you have.

PS. I think is is quite 'big' considering his body type, the fact that he stays lean all year round, and is natural. He's no Yates though

Thanks for your response fellows...

@ progessive when I said I dont want to be that big I did not mean Jim I mean Tom platz, Ronnie coleman etc. Way to big for me. I dont think Jim is that big, looks good though.

VonD i know it takes years to get big brother, thinking of the bigger picture here

Mike I hear you my man

My query was just about his program in general.

I've read some of Jim's advice and I like how he does things. He does know what he's talking about, and if he was on the steroids that most bodybuilders are on he would be pretty huge. His advised routine would work better for some guys than others since we all respond differently to different stykes of training thanks to our genes. Worth a shot though.

Thanks MA, gonna klap it for the 12 weeks and see how it goes, if it hurts that much it has to be doing something good. Shock my system with something new.

With squats and deadlifts in the same session, you must really look forward to Fridays, huh?

I'm doing Jim Wendler's Boring But Big 12 week challenge and I get those two exercises together on Tuesdays and Fridays. I spend most of those workouts re-swallowing lunch.

The way I used to do it- squatting on "leg day" and deadlifting on "back day"- was much more pleasant.

I have to admit though, doing them together works really, really well.
All of my statements are hypothetical and are intended for entertainment purposes only.

Agree MA

I think the title is a little misleading ....should be 12 weeks to increase your OWN size and strength....according to your genes ... in otherwords u not going to get big just put on a kg or two :)

I wouldn't follow it for 12 weeks, your body is going to find a way to efficiently do the exercises and 'cheat' to get the reps done, slowing down Hypertrophy significantly.

Mix it up, do it for 4-6 weeks then swap up the rep counts and sets, add a bit of strength, swap Dropsets for supersets. Be imaginative and keep the body guessing always.

Lello out.

I have followed the Shortcut to Size program to the T. All that I can say is...is that I have never gotten such great gains in any other 12 week program before, and I have done most of the programs on bodybuilding.com. For my next cycle, I'm going to kick it off with the DTP trainer, followed by Shortcut to Size.

Thanks again for all your advise gents.
333 all to inspiring
I am normally a 3 sets of 10 man, obviously always changing the exercises and order - adding in supersets. This workout is new for me so i feel motivated which obviously makes me train harder - not forgetting the gear...

Also received my 2nd cycle today which i will nail in Dec, NPP - Cyp - Proviron - Winstrol and all ancillaries, very excited about this. Stoked gents.
