It’s assumed that you already read through all the articles in the “Information” and “Drug Profiles” sections. In this article I hope to help you put the pieces of information together so that you can start using steroids effectively and most importantly, safely!

As mentioned in the “Steroid Cycle Basics” article, you will start by deciding on the first goal you would like to accomplish. Set your mind on a target that’s realistic and likely to be achieved. Remember that steroids are not miracle drugs and it will almost certainly take many years of hard training and dieting to look like top bodybuilders. Be patient and keep in mind that they also had to start where you are now.

The next step is choosing suitable steroids and a PCT for your stack. This shouldn’t be too hard because by now you ought to know the properties of all the different compounds. If you are in any doubt, it’s best to stop reading and go back to the “Drug Profiles” section to start over. The different options for PCT’s are discussed in the “Post-Cycle Therapy” article.

For your first few cycles it’s advisable to avoid steroids with many unwanted side-effects and also to steer clear of steroids with tendencies to exert allot of negative feedback on the HPTA axis. If your stack contains injectable steroids, don’t worry because providing that you follow our “Injection procedures” guide you will have very little risk to injuring yourself. Injecting oneself might sound like an impossible thing to do, but once you get over that initial fear of needles it will become a routine procedure. If you really can’t do it yourself ask someone to help you, but avoiding injectable steroids forever is impossible and you will sooner or later have to stop being a sissy and toughen up.

Deciding on your dosages is very crucial and it’s best to start on the lower end of the dosages mentioned in the drug profiles. Remember that when you first start off using steroids your body will react very well to steroids given that the dosage is over the physiologic level. More is not better and the only thing an unnecessarily high dosage will add is more severe side-effects.

Once you have your stack all planned out you will have to source your supplies. Make sure you have everything you need before you start, that includes all your steroids, needles, syringes, alcohol swabs and PCT drugs. It’s also a good idea to have extra anti-estrogen drugs on hand in case you start experiencing estrogenic side-effects like gynocomastia. A good choice is Arimidex (anastrozole), because it is very effective, has little side-effects and works fast.

Next you have to set a start date and also plan ahead in your schedule so that you don’t interrupt your cycle or training with holidays or traveling. Remember that you cannot take steroids with you on a plane as that will land you in big trouble if caught. Your diet plays a big part in your results, so make sure you have the necessary budget available to buy the required foods and supplements. Adequate rest is often overlooked and we frequently reminded by bodybuilders that you grow at your best in the kitchen and bedroom. You will need about 10 hours of sleep per day and preferably 1 or 2 rest days per week.

You might also have to make personal sacrifices if you are serious about getting the most from your cycle, training and dieting. Things like late night partying and drinking alcohol will have to be kept to the minimum. Addictions like recreational drugs and smoking is also very counterproductive, but before you tell me that Arnold smoked marijuana, you have to look in the mirror and realize that you are not Arnold. Bodybuilding is not only about physical development, but also about a healthy lifestyle.
