Turinabol was the first original product of the German pharmaceutical company Jenapharm, developed in 1961. It is a close derivative of Dianabol and considered by many to be its milder cousin. When compared, Turinabol's anabolic and androgenic activity is somewhat lower than that of Dianabol; however, the anabolic-to-androgenic effects are better balanced, allowing for a more favorable drug where androgenic side effects are less likely to occur.
In 1990, it was revealed that during the Olympic Games held between 1974 and 1989, German athletes were given Turinabol to improve their performance as part of a secret state-sponsored program. Over ten thousand male and female athletes received Turinabol, often without their knowledge - they were simply told they were taking vitamins. At the time, Turinabol was undetectable by drug tests.
Turinabol is considered a safe steroid and is often described as having properties somewhere between Dianabol and Anavar. It does not aromatize into estrogen, so estrogenic side effects are rare; however, some reports have been given of mild gynecomastia symptoms. The exact cause is not entirely certain but could be due to Turinabol's potential action on the estrogen receptor or possible methyltestosterone contamination during manufacturing. Androgenic side effects are still possible but are unlikely to be severe.
Turinabol is a c17 alpha-alkylated steroid, so liver damage should be taken into account when designing a cycle that includes it. It's good practice to keep dosages within reasonable levels and limit the duration of usage to around 6 weeks to avoid hepatotoxicity. Additionally, use liver detoxification supplements.
Daily dosages range from 40 to 60mg, and Turinabol makes a great addition to cutting or pre-contest stacks. Versatility is a very positive aspect of this steroid, even benefiting athletes in sports where speed is required as a performance-enhancing drug.
