I don't want to be a little girl but I want to share this with you guys. Maybe someone on here will read this and starting thinking clearly about their physique and the look they are going for. And that look might be a shit one that doesn't fit. Who wants to have loads of muscle but in all the wrong places anyway?

So here is my rant.

Last night in gym I spotted a personal trainer who was busy training a newbee. The guy had massive impressive traps. But... not only is he a very tall guy which already makes him look narrow (for the lack of a better word) his huge ass traps made him look even narrower. He has a good big upper body but narrow shoulders and narrow lats and guess what? NO LEGS. You can see they guy trains legs, but maybe every 2nd or 3rd week and no calves. Nothing fit, no ratio between shoulder width, back with and then these huge ass traps. It looks like he was a midget bodybuilder but stretched to the length of a tall guy.

All this made me think how guys can just focus on one area, or not even focus on one area to get that big but do not stop to think about ratio and an overall well built physique. I remember some time ago you had these guys in the gym with big ass arms but nothing else and they thought they looked like the bees knees. This always stopped to make me think why though? And then to top it off, he trains newbees.

Maybe it is a never ending loosing battle and not even worth going into but I feel ratio and symmetry is important for anyone hitting the gym, whether just a casual of a competitor. You go to the gym and spend hours and hours building your physique and loosing fat but why not focus on the overall look. These guys spend hours in the gym bettering themselves and end up looking like shit and no one, not even his friends (who are well rounded in overall look) set him right but feel proud to stand next to him in the gym.

It baffles me.

I know a few guys who fit into this category. Some of them even train upper body every day and lower body not even once.
The worse case is when personal trainers just look big upper body. As you said legs not even once.

Its a never ending case in the gym. Some guys just want to look big on the upper body. Its actually baffles me. To a extent they come out and tell you. “Im not a professional bodybuilder so im not worried. Lol”

I think initially newbies may just be happy to get gains and naturally certain muscles tend to grow quicker / easier for some people compared to other - for me my legs grow pretty quickly and can easily outgrow my upperbody.

As you gain more experience you start to realize it looks shit and then hopefully adjust your training accordingly. This obviously takes time to correct though.
As for personal trainers, I think most of us can agree that majority of the ones that work for the gym's aren't great and their knowledge is questionable... Their physiques I often find lacking - bloated stomachs, quite a bit of fat and their overall attention and lack of caring while their client's are training and doing their set.

I know I have made lots of mistakes in the gym, you live and learn from them. I still have lots to learn. People rely on the "professionals" to know what they are doing and trust that they know best, I personally feel as if most personal trainers in my gym have limited knowledge and don't care about their clients or their goals. It is just a job for them.

For some Abs are made with lighting & angles... For others they are made in the kitchen.

I agree,

It is rare that you find a PT working at a gym that takes it as serious as they should or commit to the client and their goals.

I tried a PT at the gym once for a week, cost a fortune and it was a waste. I only started gym and needed some guidance. The program he gave me was way too advances for someone who just started and he was no help at all. I have never seen a trainer who actually trains his client for their goals and where they are at.

I find my traps grow quick and for that reason I only gym traps when I feel it is needed. Which might be once a month or once every 2 months. It sucks though that we do not have quality PT at our gyms but most of us like to train ourselves and ask for guidance when needed.

I agree on the personal trainers, most I have seen just don't care...

But on the traps thing, I'm a tall guy just under 1.9m and when I started training, my traps blew up compared to the rest of my body but slowly over time, everything else filled out.

And my legs are very long, hence I often get the eye twitching comment that I skip leg day...its a curse when you are tall. I feel for the other tall members, it's tough to get some good size on our legs, and then an even tougher mission to get size on dem bastard calves...

I am 1.85 so close to 1.9. My legs took a long time to show size and now I have to buy new clothes for work regularly as they tear like nothing. Not that they are massively big I just dislike loose pants.

It took me a year of training legs twice a week for that change to happen and it was without anabolic use.

Lets just not talk about calves. It is a mission to get them to pop the way you want to.

It seems that we are fortunate to have traps that grow like nothing though. But at the end of the day no use being jacked in all the wrong places.

I have also been training legs twice a week and I have crazy muscle definition but when I am on gear, my shoulders broaden so quickly that it gives me a bit of a top heavy look. Long road ahead still...

True that. Traps and shoulders are prolly the first to show size when running anabolics. The long road ahead just keeps us focused on the goal and what it takes to get there

Thank you very much for this.

I also believe as a newby that asking guys what they do and how they do it is much better than just reading up on a website and when guys respond like that then it actually discourages newbies to get the correct information.

I came across this page and must say that I have learned a lot about PCT which I had previously didn't have much knowledge of.

If I can add to this story, this morning I was asking some questions regarding the air inside of a normal insulin syringe and what the purpose of this was. Long story short, the guys wanted to know what cycle I was on and when I said that it was Dbol, Test, Deca & winstrol (cycle 7) as per tried and tested on this page I was bombarded with guys on a popular messaging app telling me that it's a ripoff and why this and why that ba bla bla....

I've decided that I wouldn't ask again and just kept my mouth shut. I believe the information found on this page is very valuable and think comments from "a guy that knows a guy" should be just that...he's opinion.

I'd rather be asking on here and get solid advice as to what, why where etc.. than getting shut down by big boys with big attitudes to match the big heads.

Whilst on this cycle I feel that I have already achieved a lot towards my goal and will keep going at it and would like to thank Admin for putting in as much information as possible to broaden our knowledge. Many people might know a lot but not everybody knows everything especially when starting out the right way.

Cheers!

You always going to have someone shutting you down, that's what haters do. Here we try lift people up and help them achieve their goals and get very proud of and for people who have and who are doing so.

Even now days when I listen to people speak around me, I just rather keep my words to myself as I've gotten to a point that I realize people will do what they want to do at the end of the day.

I think I finally want to join a gym and get fit. So I was wondering which gym to join. Good Life? World Gym? the Y?

Which gym do you go to? Do they offer lots of classes at different time slots? Lots of equipment? People to show you how to use them etc?

Thanks ladies
