Steroids and Arteries was created by Colt
Among steroid users, men that currently used anabolic steroids had significantly worse heart function than past users. Authors also found that steroid users had significantly more plaque build-up in their arteries than non-users. The longer men reported taking steroids, the worse their arteries were.

Question:

I hope this is not a dumb question.

How do you prevent this / can you prevent this ? Or is this 100% genetics.

I'd like to get access to the article just out of interest to try critically appraise it. The issue with these steroid user research articles is the amount of confounding variables: What compounds did they use? Orals ruin lipid profiles and thus plaque build up is to be expected. If lipid levels were controlled or similar is the build up worse in anabolic users? Did the anabolic users use Tren, that has been known to be toxic to the intima on the arterial wall leading to plaque build up. What's their diet like? The list goes on...

What is actually interesting is an article that I read that showed how men on TRT compared to men who weren't at similar ages had a lower risk of cardiovascular events.

Furthermore, if you're on TRT make sure you don't have to be on an AI, they kill lipid levels and estrogen in cardioprotective.

Fairly controversial, But I'm old school. In one of the biggest trials known to cardiologists, no heart attack had ever been recorded in someone with a Total Cholesterol Less than 2 and LDL less then 2. So I'd highly advise a statin if you are worried about cardiovascular issues whilst on cycle. Also, eat wholefoods and keep your diet as clean as possible.

Aromatase inhibitor. Estrogen is neuro and heart protective. Drop it too much and you will feel shit. Some docs are against anastrozole and lable it evil... the other camp would suggest the negatives come from the direct action of an AI - which is simply dropping estrogen levels too much.

I am guessing, that is why women are one up on us, regarding heart attacks. Why men are more prone to them.

I did not know about the "neuro protective". Some more research for me to do.

At what level do you then cross this line ? IE, how far can you push TRT, without the AI ?

Only blood tests will tell. My Testosterone levels were very high on my most recent blood test (TT: 44 and FT: 1100), but my estrogen was in the middle of the range. I am not on an AI. So it's person dependent.

Wow. Thank you for sharing.

That is a test I forgot to do, my estrogen. Will do it next.

I am both excited and nervous about my Arthritis results. On the one hand, I would like to finally have an answer. Will let you know next week.

The worst right now is, this bloody Covid and all its rules.

My mom is locked up in an Alzheimers home, and we are not allowed to see her. Yesterday I heard she was not doing too well, and my hands are tied, we are not allowed into the home, to go see her.

These days there is no problem that a R100 can’t solve lol. That purple ticket has gotten me into so many places after closing time and without being permitted on numerous occasions.

Had a similar issue with my gran who is in frail care. Couldn't see her due to the risk COVID poses. Needless to say one of the nurses got covid and there was a big break out in the old age home. 5 people passed away. We've taken her out and now she is with my parents. She did get COVID but was asymptomatic thankfully.

These homes fail to realise that their staff are in contact with the outside world....
