Any general surgeon is able to perform this surgery. However, only a select few are able to do it in a cosmetically pleasing way. A common complaint of gyno surgery is 'Saucering' which is when the nipple looks like a donut because it sticks to the underlying pectoralis muscle. The best way to avoid this is leaving a tiny bit of fat between the nipple and pectoralis. Only a few surgeons do this properly. Your best bet is finding a super-specialized surgeon who does breasts. There are a lot of them nowadays.

Thanks for the replies. I will try and make my story as short as possible, I had gyno on the left side since I can remember. so started going to the gym at age 17 and this is when the bug bit me. A year after that the gyno really started bothering me and I decided to go see the Dr, at first he said its nothing to worry about and it will go away with age. 2 years later it was still there and he said he will remove it(2005). Went in for for surgery and got a drain and the area was painfull and bruised for 4weeks after surgery. after that no problems up to today. After this I started with my first cycle and went on doing multiple cycles and even competed in 2011 and 2012, during some cycles I got some tenderness behind my right nipple and just took some Nolvadex(half a tablet EOD and any issues was gone. Some cycles had no issues. So I took my last cycle in 2013 and in 2014 I stopped going to the gym(lazyness) and I didnt gain fat or lose to much of my muscle mass which was great as it still looked like I was going to the gym. Then 2016 came round and at September and I lost my job, car and even separated from the mother of my son( took my stress out on her but we got married at the end) and this is where the right hand side gyno flaired up like a MF. Got everything back on track and saw a Surgeon early 2017 and got the gyno removed. Bloodwork and all other tests came back normal and he suggested that my Testorone levels dropped becuase of the stress and depression. When I saw the surgeon 2 weeks later he told me that he did not remove all the tissue as it could possibly leave an indentation. Was shocked and dissapointed to say the least becuase I knew it would return. 2018 the gyno was back although only on the right hand side. Beginning of this year I saw a plastic surgeon, after seeing the results guys got om Youtube from plastic surgeons. He quoted me R30 000 for the surgery and some lipo, other email quotes I got ranged from R35 000-R80 000. After reading the discussions on this forum on Gyno I saw some members commented that the gyno can return after surgery( thought it was only my luck). I saved up the R30 000 but now Im real hesitant to spend the money being unsure of the reults I would get. The plastic surgeon told me that if the gland and all problematic tissue was reomoved that I would never have a issue agian. I really want the gyno gone but if it is just going to return what is the point off spending the money? Also me and the wife want to get in shape again and I want to run a cycle or 2 again.

You seem to have a similar issue as me, it always comes back. If hormones are balanced the chances are rare and that comes with doing bloods during your cycle and making sure estrogen doesn't run high, again you still could be unlucky.

What I can suggest there are plastic surgeons who change nothing after their initial procedure cost you only pay the theater and anesthetist charges which still costs a bit but at least half the price as they have deals in place with the theater that enables follow up clients reduced theater rates.

Best ways to prevent gyno. Lose excess bodyfat. Make sure your testosterone levels do not go to low. Do not run cycles without testosterone as a base, i got gyno on Anavar only cycle, it wasn't the anavars fault it was the low testosterone levels. For sensitive individuals ensure your e2 is on the lower side of the scale. Don't use deca, tren, anadrol. Do bloods before and during cycle. Don't run very high doses of gear. Do not run HCG without an AI like Aromasin, even then do not run over 500iu in a shot, HCG is so aggressive on gyno. Don't bother with SERMS you not interested in 'blocking' you don't want high circulating estrogen floating around. When you workout a dose of gear, stick to it, don't ramp up or change gear the next cycle, you not competing. If I think of something else I'll add it.

Okay will ask the DR about the follow-up surgery if needs be. Tren and Equipose was my favourite compounds but only discovered later on that the progesterone can also cause gyno :( Thanks again

I find it's just more complicated to manage. Running 300mg test now with 40mg anavar and gyno is not flaring up, my daughter can lie on my chest without throwing her off me. Before I started the Anavar the test was at 400mg and I was blown up and couldn't touch my nipples and I tried ramping arimidex right up to 2mg a week without success, I just have a certain cut off and I need to respect that. Once I have my bodyfat down to 12 percent I'll go for my 4th op.

300mg Test is still plenty...I'll also try the Letrazole 2weeks before the start of a cycle. If all goes well and I drop the weight I want too I should get the surgery done this year.

Baby doses of letro. Do everything via blood tests, workout on this dose of test i need this amount of letro, use this time now before your surgery to know exactly where you stand with all this. You know how it goes, its all great and then you like oh crap is that a bit of a lump I feel. I'm in tune with myself now, this has to be my last surgery. I'm going to try the guy who did my wife's last breast augmentation, really arrogant oke but knows his stuff and any work needed afterwards I don't have to pay for his services.

I’m currently based in Plastics in a hospital in Cape Town. If you still need assistance, I may be able to help or answer any questions.

Personal information cannot be shared on the site. I would like to know myself why 3 gyno surgeries later it is back after having a general and plastic do my secomd one were it was a full mastectomy it returned. The internet has such conflicting views. Mine is purely based on the fact that mine has come back 3 times and been told it will keep coming back if hormones are not balanced. What is your opinion and experience with reoccurring tissue growth.

And another question, how much more difficult is the surgery when doing it under local seeing its nearly half the price. How difficult does it become when you need to get to tissue on the outer sides of the chest seeing that hits a whole bunch of new nerves, would it make your job more difficult due to the patient certainly feeling that area.

Also does one still use drains or is that practice not always necessary anymore. Why i ask is that my wife's second operation which was allot larger in size 650cc the plastic never used drains, he uses some dual-plane technique, or would you still use them in men where you need to remove substantial tissue?

Hi there.

When you say "Do bloods", do you mean go to the labs directly without a doctors' script? Is this possible?

I do bloods frequently without a doctor script. Ampath is a bit difficult at times, but Lancet seems to not care. In fact, it is often better if you don't go with a doctors script, then you get the results on the app immediately when it is available, whereas with a script you only get the results once the doctor has decided what and when he wants to explain it to you.

My apologies about the late response. I didn’t receive an email telling me you replied.

What do you mean by a full mastectomy? When you say that, my understanding would be that the breast tissue, nipple-areola complex, pectoralis major and minor, and the axillary contents were removed — which I doubt happened because that would be a radical mastectomy and that is not commonly done (even in women with breast cancer). The procedure done for you was either a subcutaneous mastectomy (ScM) which just removes the breast tissue and leaves the nipple-areola complex, pectorals, and axillary contents, or it could have been liposuction under general anaesthesia.

During the ScM, the glands and adipose tissue (fat) are removed only. A proper one would be an ScM assisted by liposuction. Basically the liposuction technique leads to the formation of an aesthetically pleasing breast and also makes the excision of the glandular tissue easier. So the surgeon does the liposuction first and then the glandular tissue removal. The reoccurrence rate is very very low. But they don’t remove all the fat of course, they leave some fat for aesthetic reasons and also a man is supposed to have a bit of fat on his chest.

So if you just had liposuction and not the ScM and they left fat (which is usually done), then the gynaecomastia that you have is probably either hormonal or glandular. But if they did the SM, then the gynaecomastia isn’t glandular, but fat.

My advice would be to go to your GP, get referral to a plastic surgeon working at a university hospital and affiliated with a university — they are usually the best. Make a list of all your questions and concerns and make sure during your appointment that he or she answers all your questions and concerns. Don’t leave the room until you feel that all your questions have been answered and that you are happy. This is much easier if you are a private patient — by private, I mean, you are paying from your pocket. It is also way cheaper to do it at a university/academic hospital.
