Pathology Laboratories was created by YD1996
Hi,

I live in Durban. I want to do bloodwork to check my respective hormone levels before, during and after my cycle. However, all the major pathology Laboratories have noted that I require a doctor's referral to get bloods done. Can you suggest path labs that you use in which you don't encounter this problem?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,
YD1996

Hi YD1996,

Have you tried Lancet? Email them and ask for a request form, fill in all details and tick what you'd like tested. Go in, submit the form and pay cash/card. Alternatively just go in and complete the form at the Lancet branch and pay.

I'd phone them before going in though asking if they can assist without a referral. Out of about 5 Lancets in my area, only 1 was unwilling to assist.

Results available on their app within 24 hours.

Hi Dr. Death,

I used Lancet previously, when I lived in Sandton, and never had a problem. However, the ones I've contacted in Durban all seem to require a referral. I have contacted Ampath, Lab24 and Pathcare as well. Which Lancet branch do you use or recommend?

I'm based in Centurion, Pretoria.

I've had bloods done on a business trip without a referral at Lancet in Morningside Durban, this was a few years ago though. Hopefully another member based in Durban can make a recommendation.
