Samsung or LG? was created by Mr_SA
Hi Guys

I know this is not gym related...

BUT, which would you guys choose when it came to Home applicances such as LCD TV, Washing Machine, Fridge, Home Theatre Sound etc etc?

I am the type of person that likes to have one brand in the house...
Currently have all samsung, but thinking of switching over to LG.

My Samsung washing machine has given up on life, so, i want to get the LG Direct Drive Washing machine, that my maid cant overload!!! And also want a bigger LCD TV... or thinking of moving over to LG for that too...

Your views and feedback would be appreciated.

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

samsung has got one of the most reliable HD tv's around,LG is a shocker, this comes from some one who owns a appliance store,he says that he will get 10 lg returned tv's for every 1 samsung.

Washing machine/dryer/Dish washer - BOSCH! No comparison
Fridge/TV - LG

Samsung sucks.

If u looking for TV's i'd say go for Samsung. If u willing to spend a bit more go for Sony then... U can't beat Sony. Also try looking at the Plasma / LED TV instead of LCD in the bigger sizes.

LED is an LCD TV... It's just the back light, Plasma is crap... LCD (LED) is what you want.. I have one and they the best you can get.

I prefer Samsung over LG, almost all my appliances are Samsung. Haven't replaced or return any of my samsung stuff. My washing machine is about 5 years and going strong.

Sorry but when it comes to household appliances you can't beat AEG / Electrolux / Kelvinator

lol... Some good replies...

It seems like Samsung is the choice here...

DJ: Your friends comments on the LG TV's are very interesting, as i have heard that exact same thing about Samsung LCD's's.... Quite a bit on the web regarding the LCD complaints refer to Samsung.

I would love to get a LED... but because its still new technology to our 3rd world country, it is expensive for a 40inch.

I have normal DSTV, not HD Dstv, so, the quality of LED compared to LCD would not really affect me... I end up watching alot of movies through the Playstation 3 i have, off my external HDD.

Regarding doing my own washing... then i would be paying my maid to do like nothing every day :-) lol
But, @Bones, will be sure to drop my washing at your place :-)

Still keen to see more responses here....

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

MR SA, regardless of which tv brand u go for just make sure that the LCD is a 100hz or higher. Top quality viewing at that speed.

Kelvinator! My first fridge - 540L - hasn't skipped a beat since 1989! In my garage keeping meat and my wifes party coolers.
I now have 2 LG side by side fridge/freezers. Food keeps forever. Im sold on them. 6 years now.

Bosch for the clothes bud - sorry. Mine running constantly for 15 years now.

For LCD there's no difference in Vertical Sync Frequency refreshing bro. 40, 50 or 1000hz will all look the same, because LCD's change pixel colors independently. This only applies to CRT monitors and CRT TV's.

Just to cover my ass, because I see my post is not very clear. LCD's do refresh, but there is no flicker because the image is faded much smoother and the response time is more important than VSync.

Well from what i've seen theres a difference in image quality. For example my mates got a Samsung 32" full hd 60hz. We watched transformers 2 bluray and sum fight scene were blurry. But on my Samsung 32" Full HD 100hz there was no blur in the fight scenes. The only difference between are TV's were the hz - thats where i got that idea from but if thats not the reason, me sorry. :(

Yep that is correct, but that is due to the rate the pixel is updated and not really the the VSync.

60hz = 17ms where 100hz = 8ms I think...

Sounds to me like an issue with the HDMI cable. And are you sure both where HD not HD ready and the other Full HD ? Anyway, none of this really matters.

Maybe - but they still have lag. My dad bought a Sony Bravia LCD and i wouldnt swop it for my LG plasma.
And i wont replace the plasma just for the sake of getting a LED - picture is great.
Maybe when the thing stops working.
