tablets.iPad2 or samsung galaxy?

I am looking at getting a tablet,which would u guys recommend,samsung galaxy or the apple iPad2?

I'm a linux guy so I'd say galaxy admin is a bsd apple guy and would say ipad... End of the day they much of a muchness, however I just love the free app range on the droid then again its all fun when you first get it but you land up wanting decent processing apps that you have to pay for in the end...

Hmmm such a difficult decision....but I am leaning towards ipad..

I have the iPad 2 it was useless till I jail broke it. Problem is new firmware on later models prevent you from jail breaking it so you pay for almost everything. I love my iPad only because all my apps were free. If I had to choose now considering you cannot jail break new models I would take the galaxy as most apps are free.

I am not allergic to paying for apps I want.. How's the typing on it compared to a a normal pc keyboard?

Fantastic, highly responsive slides up when you need it and is nice and big. I wish my pc maneuvered like an iPad once you get use to the interface it's addictive. I mostly browse and sync my pc stuff with my iPad it does almost everything a pc does incl play movies, the pinch zoom function, hardware to play games and crystal clarity of screen is a winner

lol, as 00pump predicted I'm going to vote for the iPad 2.

I have everything Apple and the seamless syncing between devices are very nice. I'm sure there are similar cloud systems for droid, but because I'm all Apple it's just better for me to stick to Apple.

All Apple hardware and software are designed with simplicity of use and if you are the kind of person that like to dig into the system to customize it then an iPad is not for you. (Unless you jailbreak it).In iOS you are stuck with what the user interface offers you, but that is not a problem for me, because I once had a linux powered phone and even though it had very advanced features I never used any of them.

I don't jailbreak my devices' firmware, because I don't need it.

I don't mind paying for apps because most are $99c only anyway and I have an US iTunes account, so can download music, movies or whatever using vouchers you can buy off the internet.

The mail app is pretty good in iOS and matches mail on OS X Lion. The OS X one is more powerful, but what you get with iOS is enough for mobile use... you don't need an overly powerful email client that will only complicate use.

The graphical interface for iOS is much better than Android and the "feel" of the user interface is shared between apps and the OS so you always feel at home no matter which app is running. This makes things simpler and easier to learn. Apple are known for their well thought out interfaces and everything feels very polished, quick and very reliable.

Safari is an amazing web browser and I've never come across a site it couldn't render correctly. (Except flash websites, but we all know the fallout Steve Jobs had with Adobe and that's why there's no flash support.)

There are also some nice security features that will allow you to find your Apple devices like Mac's, iPad's and iPhones over the internet and remotely lock or erase them. You can also set the iOS device to wipe it's contents should the wrong password get entered a certain number of times.

I'm still not sure how this Find my Mac feature works, but I guess there's an GPS receiver build into the iMac computer, because it really works and I tried it earlier in the week and it located both iMac's and iPhones.

I really recommend the "Gym Goal Plus" app in the Apple iStore. It's a great workout app and features all you need.

Now the debate apparently ipad3(ipad2s) is coming out in april with hd display....do I wait?

There's going to be an iPad 4 eventually as well, so at the end of the day you will always only have the latest model for a couple of months. The prices on the iPad 2 is not too bad now, so I will get one if it's something you really want.

Yep, will be pretty cheap overseas so probably best to wait... if there is a iPad 3 release in March though.

u guys are in the know so could i please get your opinion on this...?
i am planning to get a galaxy s2 phone in 2 months to kind of give me the best of both worlds...
i dont want to buy the tablet as i must already take the work lap top with me everywhere,but i still need a bit more versatility...
i know a tablet will be best,but is it that much better than the phone?

I can see why I saved for 7 months for this thing.....it's fucking awesome...


Ummm I dunno bud it's difficult to say.... I bought this because I am out of the office quite a bit and don't have a laptop,this is very functional when u are out and about and it doesn't take up a ton of space....

The Samsung phone will give u the best of both but how ever just like my black berry I don't know how easy it is to view emailed documents in excel or PDF format...this is pretty nifty for that....it is quite a sized piece of kit but much better than lugging a lap top around...

apparently some inside info, vodacom is going to be hitting some insane specials in the next couple of months on ipads...dont ask me how i know this.

Get the Samsung Note then. Its bigger than a fone but smaller than a tablet. And u'll have the best of both.
