Glucophage is a drug prescribed to type 2 diabetics or those with the onset thereof. It is a glucose disposal agent that does the following primarily:
1. It limits the production of glucose from the liver (gluconeogenisis).
2. It selectively sensitizes the insulin receptors in the muscles cells (so assists with nutrient partitioning)
3. Reduces the release of IGF-1 (there is a view that the drug is a great anti aging drug) - the negative of this is that it also blunts mTor and muscle protein synthesis.
4. Studies show it improves anaerobic performance but negatively impacts aerobic performance
The positives are that this can potentially assist with fat loss during a cutting phase and lifting performance as lifting is largely anaerobic. Also during use it will improve insulin sensitivity. The question has been: does the improved nutrient partitioning outweigh the reduction in mTor? The general answer (although there are no definitive studies) is not. So for a bulking phase it should be avoided.
I have tried to cycle it on and off during bulking (2 weeks on 2 weeks) off. During the on period I haven’t noticed much (using 1500-2000mg per day) - some experience hypoglycemia - not me. What was noticeable is when I came off, I seemed to shed fat while eating the same diet - only my experience and possibly would have happened in any event if I stayed on.

I've used it before and had little if any benefit from it. Lately most seem interested in long-term Glucophage usage for anti-ageing purposes, but I think you'll have to use it your entire adult life before you will benefit from it and it's not worth it in my opinion.

Great drug this one is!
Glucophage is a powerful tool of diets especially the Keto diet. However, when I use it on a normal carb diet I find my blood sugar crashes often, which leads to an adrenaline spike and I end up eating more to counter the effects.

And usage with gh to prevent\slow insulin resistance? Is insulin resistance a concern at dosages of 4-5iu over 6 months?

It can be, best to check insulin before and about 2 months in. But if you living a healthy life and eating right as well as doing weights and cardio and bodyfat is not very high you have nothing to worry about.
