Anavar cycle for powerlifting was created by lsa24
Hi guys, I'm looking for advice / opinions on an Anavar only cycle. I'm a competitive powerlifter in the 83 kg class and I have a meet coming up in 9 weeks. Up to this point I've never used an AAS, so this would be my first cycle. Before everyone jumps on the "For your 1st cycle just do a test only cycle" bandwagon, my current bodyweight is 81 kg at around (or just under) 10% bf and I want to remain in the 83 kg division for now so I can't bulk up more than say 3 kg over the next 9 weeks. Currently I'm training 6 days a week at pretty high intensity and I'm struggling with recovery even though I'm getting +-9 hours of sleep and eating plenty of high quality, healthy food.

So my question is this: is it worth it for me to go on an Anavar only cycle to increase strength and recovery, while not putting on a lot of mass? If so, who is a recommended supplier, what dosage, do I need an AI, what is a recommended PCT cycle?

Lastly, before anyone says I should just use Tren instead, I'm NOT experienced enough with AAS's to deal with the sides from Tren. The reason I am looking at Anavar is because it has less severe sides than other AAS's and I think they will be more manageable for me as a first timer

Hey.

On a cycle. Go for test as a base regardless of what every you use. Its better overall.

Anavar nd test is a nice combo for strength.
TestE300mg a week for a starters 10weeks
Var 20-40-60mg ed 60 on a high end i dont think u need to go that high. (6weeks)

No one is going to recommend tren here on a first cycle
Have arimidex on hand for sides. (Use only when needed)
Look at rad-140/lgd or mk-677 they also have they place

Post your diet also. Other guys can help.

Hey thanks for the reply. I did initially think of starting with a test e cycle, but as I said I want to remain in my weight class for this next meet at least. Even with a low test dose would I still be able to maintain my weight?

I have tried rad-140 at 15mg ed before, but didn't really find much of an effect (I don't know if it was a dud product maybe?)

A basic daily diet for me would be:
Breakfast - big bowl future life or 4 eggs scrambled on toast
Morning snack - 1 cup oats soaked in milk plus a piece of fruit
Lunch - 2 peanut butter and jam sandwiches, a back and cheese or chicken and cheese sandwich and some fruit
Afternoon snack - 1 cup oats soaked in milk and a piece of fruit
Post gym shake - +-80 g whey protein, 1/2 cup oats, tablespoon peanut butter, tablespoon coconut oil and 300ml full cream milk
Supper - plenty of carbs (pasta, potato wedges or brown rice usually), veg (usually carrots, broccoli or gemsquash) and chicken breast or beef mince.

i don't think you're eating enough buddy hence the struggle with recovery. you're pretty much eating the same food i feed my daughter lol

read the dieting section and i'm pretty sure you'll get some good results. don't do any cycle until you get the dieting section right. cycle won't do much if you're not eating correctly.

Personally from my high school powerlifting days i preferred having a bit more fat. Might be psychological but i always felt stronger when i wasn't at my leanest

Hi. Any cycle is going to add mass, even Var. You mention a healthy diet but, no flame here, your diet is anything but healthy. Two of your meals are bread and sandwiches, the rest is a lot of sugar. Carbs in every meal. So by that I’d guess that your body fat percentage is higher than you’d like. Why not change your diet, take in only good carbs around training. This will help you lose weight. On that basis you could run a test and anavar cycle and probably still be in the same weight class but carrying more muscle. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the comp.

My comments are not advice, medical or otherwise. I am not a medical practitioner. Always consult your Doctor before making decisions.

Why are you worried about jumping into the next weight class? Your diet suggests you're not a serious lifter, but if you're set on remaining in your class, forget about doing a cycle unless you've got some fat to burn. The last thing you want to do is be 500g into the heavier weight class at weigh-in.

Rather chomp 100mg of anadrol and 20g of halo pre-comp, and throw in a 100mg shot of tren or test base (TNE). Or metribolone if you can get your hands on it :woohoo:

It sounds like you're overtraining too. 6 days a week is a LOT if you're doing heavy compounds. No wonder you're struggling to recover.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I seriously appreciate it. It seems like I was nowhere close to what, I thought, a decent powerlifting diet would be :pinch: haha. Would any of you guys be willing to suggest an example of what a basic day's eating should be?

It's a hobby I started about a year and a half ago (but been gyming around 7 years now) so it's not like I'm looking to be a pro at it, but I do take it fairly serious - I qualified for this year's RPC nationals. I'm just wanting to stay in my class for this next meet because I won't be able to gain enough size and strength in the next 8 weeks to compete with the guys already in the 90 kg class. After this meet I'm planning on bulikng up to the 90 kg weight class.

My compound work is 4 days a week (currently following the Sheiko meet prep program) and I have cycling twice a week (I got roped into cycling the Argus for my company) so up until March I don't really have much choice on doing fewer days (I normally do 4 a week only) hence my interest interest in finding something that will help boost my ability to recover, at least for these next few weeks.

So assuming you want to carry some bulk as a power lifter, you don't necessarily want to cut carbs to lean out. Your carb quality needs attention though. Have a look at the Dieting sticky thread on the diet section of the forum. The first 3 posts there will help give you an idea, calculate your calorie needs and build a diet. What I would suggest it keeping your carb intake generally around your training and to focus on good carbs. Bread, pasta, processed carbs, sugar, etc are all processed carbs and do nothing beneficial. Good luck.

Hi all, so I've been doing some diet research this week both in the diet forum of this site and on diet forums from EliteFTS and JTS to get an idea of what someone of my weight should be eating. You guys are definitely correct in terms of my carb sources not being great so I've restructured my diet quite a bit. I've started a new thread (dieting for powerlifting meet prep) in the dieting forum and I give a rundown of what I've been eating this week. I've cut out refined sugar (not that I used it much before anyway) and reduced the amount of bad carbs I eat (no more pasta and less bread) as well as reordered my meal timings.

Overall I'm getting around 3600 kcal a day from +-250 g protein, +- 300 g carbs and +- 150 g fats. I also ordered some lgd 4033 from LP which I have used in the past to help increase my workout capacity and improve my recovery. Since I'm now around 3 kg under my class limit I'll be able to absorb the bulk gain from the lgd over the next few weeks and do a cut in the last week if necessary to make weight

Use halotestin dose based on your weight 2 hours before you lift on comp day.
