Nolvadex, your nuts and liver

I imagine these effect are from long term use, but just wondering if this is anything to be concerned about.
Ive always now Nolva to be a carcinogen but never really bothered to investigate.
The 1 that bugs me the most is the testicular tumors :blink: , but they also talk about fatty liver and liver tumors

"A conventional carcinogenesis study in rats (doses of 5,20, and 35 mg/kg/day for up to 2 years) revealed hepatocellular carcinoma at all doses, and the incidence of these tumors was significantly greater among rats given 20 or 35 mg/kg/day (69%) than those given 5 mg/kg/day (14%). The incidence of these tumors in rats given 5 mg/kg/day (29.5 mg/m2) was significantly greater than in controls.

In addition, preliminary data from 2 independent reports of 6-month studies in rats reveal liver tumors which in one study are classified as malignant. (See WARNINGS)

Endocrine changes in immature and mature mice were investigated in a 13-month study. Granulosa cell ovarian tumors and interstital cell testicular tumors were found in mice receiving Tamoxifen Citrate, but not in the controls."

Those are really high doses if you taking into account that your average guy is say 90kg and @ 5mg/kg/pday that would be 45mg (2 1/2 tabs of the 20mg) for 2 yrs.

Rule of thumb is 20mg p/day for 30days.

We take the above dose maybe 3 or 4 times p/year only.

35mg/kg/pday on 90kgs is like 315mg/pday and is half a box of 20mg tabs p/day.

Any scheduled med you abuse like that will have adverse sides, even S0 like a panado or disprin.

These studies are towards medicinal uses and good to know the risks, but am sure these sides are not prevalent in our sport.

BB_guy yup all of those are true... never heard of anyone who experienced this... let’s hope none of us do. Remember every drug you put in your body has a side effect and reacts differently to each individual. Play it safe, only put in you what you have to put in you.


That is why long breaks between cycles are so important!

Everytime I write about Nolvadex I state how 'toxic' it is, thats why just 'adding' things into the mix is not the answer, hence the reason doctors perscribe it and not just over the counter drug as to educate us and monitor while we using any scheduled drug.

Yup agree, but have used it like that in the past when couldn't get hold of an A.I.

A.I.'s are also carcinogenic. Bottom line is you know the risk before you take anything. Like Mr. Pumper said only put in what you have to! Risk increases with each cycle and that's why we do as much as we can naturally first before delving into these substances. Heck even high doses of testosterone are carcinogenic...

Its actually 450mg for a 90kg guy @ 5mg/kg/pday so definitly nothing to worry about
