Steroid related deaths was created by Happyraven
Hey guys

quick one. A colleague of a friend of mine recently died of a heart attack at 33 years of age. He was an avid steroid user (not a very big oke, but you could see that he trained) Now why is it that someone like that could die of a heart attack (not sure the cause or anything, so i am only gonna ASSUME that gear didn't help the cause)Yet you dont hear, well i dont, of pro bodybuilders who more than likely take way more anabolics having heart attacks? Am i off base? Or are there various reasons ie: genetics?

Thanks

Its a jurasic debate! I guess it falls in the same class as people who have never smoked but die of lung cancer and then again people who smoked from 14 years old and live until 80+.

So i guess taking juice did not do him any favors but it prob isnt the main cause. Haert problems are heavely genetically orientated. If you have a family history of haert problems you prob will run into some trouble along the way

It's is difficult to point to a specific thing without knowing what he was using, what else he was using and what his genetics are

Having said that, one of the overlooked things from steroids is hemocrit levels. Steroids increase red blood cell count and make blood platelets somewhat "sticky".
THis can lead to a blood clot.

You have to be unlucky and a small % of the population, and its from long term use ie not cycling and staying on relatively high doses for long periods of up to a couple of years, but funnily enough I was chatting to a guy last month on another board who had a heart attack at 38-there have been a few others and seem to follow same pattern, a blood clot, often in the lower leg that goes to the heart and causes a heart attack.

So always cycle and don't stay on high doses-500mg test +-for long periods. It may also be a good idea to take a baby aspirin on cycle-80mg per day-to help thin the blood a little.

agree with both posts... thanks for the responses.

On the note of increased red blood cell count. Is there a test that one can get done at the path lab to determine ones red blood cell count?

I think its just called a blood cell count test and hemocrit level test-they do an all in one test and test red blood cell count, white blood cell count, hemoglobin and hemocrit levels as far as I know.
There is some sort of platelet test as well, but am not sure what its called.
I know the guy I was chatting to had a blood ejection level test and a cardiosympathy test-or does this regularly since the heart attack.

You know what, if you play open cards with your Doc he will surely know all these things? My Dr does all this for me and considers the risk of the increased Hemoglobin/Red Blood and their "stickyness" quite serious.
So have all the blood tests tests done. Go to the cardiologist, have a sonar of your arteries and organs etc etc.
At least if something is wrong to begin with you would know about it.
Noone knows exactly when and if something will ever go wrong with a healthy person.

what is the cost of something like that if you just have a hospital plan as i assume that it wont be covered by a hospital plan.

We all know the risk of using gear (unfortunately most do not). It is dangerous stuff we are toying with, so the risk is always there. Risk vs benefit as they say.

My plan covers all this. Look, is your decision. Chances are there is nothing wrong with you. That will be the case (Probably)90% of the time. If the odds suit you.... For me they dont. Stack that 10% with all the stuff you will be injecting, not knowing exactly the effect and i think you are heading for a disaster.

I'd have a checkup - at least ONCE. Genetic/hereditory problems should show up early.

Steroids do/can cause heart disease. I am a walking example of this. The bottom line is, make sure you do your yearly checkups. Go do an ECG scan once a year and make sure that all basic health levels are checked. A number of issues that steroids cause can lead to further risk, high blood pressure causes strain on the heart, strain on the heart causes high blood pressure, if you read my post under hypertension you will see what risks you run at just going 5/10 points over the recomended levels.

The bottom line is if you cycle steroids correctly and monitor your body properly and pull out when you notice a problem you will at least catch a problem before it becomes something critical.

And yes, the post above about RBC is a major issue and using substances like EQ which require cycles to be extended to best utalize the gear. Yes all steroids increase RBC and no proof shows EQ doing this any worse than another stetoid, I just mentioned it because we cycle it for lengthly peroids of time.

Play it safe, use don't abuse.

Pump lets say you get a guy that has high blood pressure not dangerously but it runs in the family. he came off a deca and sus cycle. And BP went up and later on stabelized a little. Now he is planning to do a equi cycle. will this be wise. Like you said all roids increase RBC. But in this case will a test only cycle be sufficient or what is the ideal cycle when you suffer from BP. Rather stick to mostly to short esters

They all push the BP up, except Primo or the least considering. Even training pushes the BP up.

There are meds to control this and if BP is an issue I would rather get prescription meds to control this and not roll the dice with juice until this is under control. Esp if the problem is hereditary.

silly question, but would giving blood once a month while on cycle help?? in terms of RBC count?

Well I would rather go to a natrual doctor, have him prick your finger and put it under the scope and see whats happening with your cells. you will be able to view on his monitor at the same time what is happening with your blood cells.. I find when on gear, they clump together, hard to explain but if you view the scope you will see what I mean.

And yes, everything pushes blood pressure up, the nice thing about training is it pushes it up for a second then drops it nicely afterwards. My blood pressure now is around 145 (I can't lower it) need to wait for my body to balance again, and after doing just walking at 5.5 / 6 it drops down to around 132 that evening.

No I think Netro is right, not safe... One might be suffering from what ever condition and traces of steroids could be the worse thing for somebody who requires a tranfusion.

I work for a company wer blood tests is very important. We ask the clients if they are on steroids. If the client says no,they dont test for it(I work with people that use). They take it at face value.
If u said no, and u wer aproved, and later died and it was as a direct result from using steroids,ur claim would not be aproved. This is the risk u carry when u lie or dont disclose the full truth. If someone got hurt from u lying then u can get in deep poop.
They ask for my blood on a regular basis, but as i told her..i am using, wil continue to use and ther is no end in sight for this cowboy.

This i want to challenge - how did he die? How do they blame it on steroids?

It was probably a genetic disorder, but if the insurance companys investigate and run tests they won't pay out. Any gap they can get they'll try get out of paying, even if the death was nothing to do with steroids, but he tested for +ve for it.
I worked for a long term insurance company a few years back and some claims were declined on the most ridiculous insignificant non disclosures that had nothing to do with the death.
