Glucophage = metformin. Anti-diabetic drug used in insulin-resistant diabetes. Sensitizes your own cell's insulin receptors in order to render better uptake of glucose. Used mostly in obese individuals, usually those persons fall into the category of insulin resistance. Works for 8 hours. Usual dosage 500mg 3 xpd, but that's for diabetics. Can cause hypoglycaemia, so still be careful. Many generics on the market, but they cost the same as the original package product. The latter is enteric coated and gives less GI upset and diarrhoea. I would say for body building, 500mg post workout after ingestion of atleast 40gr whey prot + 60gr mixture of simple to complex carbs within the first hour, should do the trick. Be careful to use in conjunction with insulin, it will easily lead to hypoglycaemia. In my personal opinion, pioglitazone(Actos) at dosage of 7,5mg in the mornings, is a better choice than metformin. It works for full 24h, the chance of hypoglycaemia is minimal, it has less to none GI side effects, and Cipla just luanched a 15mg per tab generic.

So, to Mr MXT - you may \"need\" a dosage of a 1000mg/24h according to your weight, but Mr ChemicalG may not! Dosages working for one, could easily be harmful for the next. ALWAYS, when experimenting with something new you have not used before, start at the lowest dose possible, slowly titrate upwards until you experience early side effects, then just-just cut back on your dosage and you have reached dosages which will be tolerable individually.
Now, when you chaps have returned from the \"circus\", how about asking me an interesting question on something you would love to know more about??
