Gyatsu: its logic - train heavy and overload= get big?? Playing around with all these crazy 10-2000000 rep exercises makes no sense! Train hard, train heavy, tear and repair;) warm up! Lift up the gym! Drop set and see if you can walk home;) all the best>

I prefer heavy drop sets with a full range of motion. Heels to the floor and standing on the tip of my toes at the top.
If you cant do the full range - drop the weight.

I am with the moose on this one, My calves same story bad ginetics. but thats not stopping me, one exercise that broke me could do nothing calves contracted the next day. could not walk.
Seated calve raises warmup low weight 20 reps.
2 sets heavy weight reps 8 and 6
then 2 TOWER SETS
( example: get your partner standing ready with 3 weights being lets say 20 kgs. start of with 40kg on the machine. do 20 reps, directly after that put on another 20kg then 15 reps, another 20kg do 12 reps, last 20kg 10 reps) with dthis i got awesome definition.
Standing calve raises. 3 sets like the moose said. go poes heavy. i like doing my rep ranges from 10-8-6
Then 2 drop sets.
then lastly i do the legpress machine on a moderate weight just 3 sets. Then crawl out.
This worked for me, use it dont use it. And just to remember with te tower set be cautious not to swing the weight or using your hands. get the proper combination that works.
As ek storm volg my, as ek omdraai skiet my, as ek sterwe wreek my, so help my God

I agree with Moose on this one. I believe in doing a proper calve workout once a week and since i've started doing that its worked wonders.Ha ha frikkie EXACTLY;) heavy is too light for me;)

And I thought I had tried everything
I'm going to rotate all your routines. After all, I have 12 weeks to make it happen.
How should I treat the rest of the body, seeing that I don't want to gain much more size?

Warm up your body part you are training (+- 2 sets), and then do +- 3 exercises per body part in the 8-12 rep range, almost at failure on the last rep. (judge the weight by that) like extra medium weights??

You should never be locking your knees on any exercise. I don't see how locking your knees would feel as though its benefiting your calves even more with higher reps and moderate weight. I think you would also be isolating the calf muscle even more with bent knees as there is more resistance on the calf that wayjust a quick Q : do you guys prefer locking your knees or semi stiff with calves? i know the locking is bad for knees especially when you go heavy (or poes heavy
![]()
) but is it very bad when you take moderate weight for higher reps cos it feels like it works better with locked knees???

Keep the legs straight for those or you will work the wrong part of the calve.

Just wanted to share my experience with the cycle. Since I got a lot of help from the forum, decided to give back - who knows, maybe some newbie is looking for the same info as I was.
So, I'm on my 2nd week of of SuperTest+Deca, and here's my experience on this cycle compared to the previous 2 I've done (cyp only);
- strength is definitely improving, and it's gradual: I´m mostly doing legs, mainly calves. Off-cycle leg press began at 240kg (530pounds) warm up, up to 350-400kg (880pounds) once I went to 450kg (992pounds) On-cycle; I did this week (2nd week) 450kg easy. My objective is doing 500kg (1102pounds) and keep it there (going heavier than that might not do good for the knees) Strength level seems about the same as with Cyp
- Haven't yet weighted myself (will do it 2day) but I don't think I gained any weight - it doesn't feel like it. On my Cyp cycle I felt I started gaining weight almost automagically (prob water I know, but it felt that way)
- Anabolic levels is the major difference I feel. And by "anabolic" I refer to the vascularity, the pump. With Cyp I felt very vascular, great pump, any muscle I'd hit. On Supertest+Deca it took a while to experience it, and its not every muscle, only the big ones. maybe it's too soon - it's said that it takes around 4 weeks for the compounds to start showing drastic effects. maybe I´m too eager. but I do notice a difference. People told me to jump start with Dbol but it's the first time that I cycle with 2 dif components and I didn´t want to mix in a third. Plus, I'm taking 2 drops of Letro everyday, so that might cut the water that added the extra-volume on Cyp
- joints feel great ehehehhe no pain at all. Skull crushers and close grip presses produce no pain. On cyp, I didn't feel this effect. But then again, it's a known particularity of Deca
- I had the strongest case of test flu!!! Man that hit me hard. And it took me off-guard! With Cyp i felt a bit of a headache 1 day after the shot, and the first usually gave me a low fever. This time it was hardcore!! body pain, fever, sore throat! i was scared, then I read a bit and found out it was usual. know its gone - after the 3rd shot
For calves I'm doing MR Moose's suggestion(U can see it on page 1), but my gym doesn't have a seated calves machine, so I use the 45º leg press and bend the legs another 45º. I feel it isolates the parts it´s supposed to. On standing calves, on the squat machine I've pushed 160Kg (352pounds) which is 50Kg(110pounds) more than I used to. Its a great routine.
I'm not doing any special diet (I know! I know! I'm leaving it for the Summer/cutting cycle) I'm just trying to eat smaller portions (I used to eat a whole chicken by myself at lunch), more often and specially no junk food, also low carbs at night.
Another, thing: I hit the gym at 05AM, usually only with dinner or a couple of energy bars I eat when I wake up at 04h15am. Don't know if it's bad or not.
Well guys, that's about it. Hope it helps some newbie to decide his next cycle.
I´m not a pro bodybuilder nor is this advice, it's just my experience.
Sorry for any spelling or incorrect terms I might have used, English is not my 1st language.

500 Kg LegPress done properly is no joke. Go to youtube and watch Dorian Yates suffer with less.
Checkout the vid with Chris Cormier:
etc etc.
So well done!

I'm starting to be ashamed to tell you guys that I don't keep track of my diet
I'm trying to eat "clean" ( low fat foods, more veggies, less curries) but that's about it. As I said, I eat a lot. I'm basically lean, but I eat alot! And I swim and cycle, so I dont usually worry too much about the fat/carbs I eat.All I do is;
1. make sure I don't spend lots of time without eating, so I always take something to the office, either a steak sandwich, peanut butter and jelly, or energy bars, jungle oats bars...
2. I'm trying to eat less but more frequently
3. Before I eat something, I usually google it to see if it's pro or con for bodybuilding/fitness. Stopped with the cookies, chips, (...) all junk food
4. try to take a least 1gr of whey protein shake per kg of body weight
I figure I'd get the rest from what I eat during the day.
I know it's no where near optimal, but if you tell me that it's a major part of the cycle I'll digg out a diet plan that I know I´ll be able to maintain.I say this because I´ve seem some diets that take a lot of preparation (both wallet-wise and mental-wise)

Whoa! that's some intense workouts!
I did hit 450kg, I didn't puke but I nearly did.
I've always been a skinny kid so when I went to the gym I spent all the time doing legs, trying to get them proportional.
cheers
