Howsit Manne!

I am 27 years old, currently 81kg, and have been training since I was 16.

Over the past 3 years I've been battling with mild Crohn's disease and it's been a tough time to navigate. I went from 100kg to 78kg over the course of 4 months in 2018 and my weight has stayed this low for a while. Among weight loss, I also get very fatigued, struggle with breathing and have nervous system issues when the disease does flare up. I'm about 1.9m tall so this body weight is not very healthy for me based on my body type. I am a mesomorph and while I do gain muscle fairly easily, I also do lose it just as quickly.

I've been to Endocrinologists and they are all bladdy idiots. None of their advice helped and neither did their medications. Through other medications and some diet change it got better but it still acts up in certain situations (poor diet, stress, low stomach acid etc.)

I'm looking to possibly do an Anavar cycle at 20mg/day for a 7 week cycle in order to just gain a small amount of weight back in a healthy way and maybe even strengthen the digestive system. I have not run any gear before and would appreciate any advice with regards to cycle duration, dosage, PCT, Gut issues, etc.

Thanks

Crohn's disease is quite a tough one as it is due to massive inflammation in the stomach.

a great diet would actually be a ketogenic diet for this in my opinion, as you will have way less inflammation all round. don't care what people say, it is possible to put on muscle on keto if you go the CKD route and keep calories in surplus during the keto phase.

Anavar might be ok, but I wouldn't risk an oral at this stage, I would consider doing straight test cycle, and if you are afraid of the needle doing IM shots, do sub Q injections with an insulin syringe, no more than 0.5ml per jab.

you will get WAY better results on 250mg test cyp a week than 20mg of Anavar a day.

The condition is no joke and I would not put something into me what could aggravate your stomach in any way.

What advice did the endos provide, did they put you on hydrogen peroxide drips to help heal the gut? You need to provide loads more info. What other medication did you use and for what. I highly rate certain endos so I'd love to understand how they are idiots.

Intelligently done this would probably be the best starting point.
However, is a CKD even a ketogenic diet? I never understood (and will never understand) that one.
I would just suggest the OP not start stripping away gluten and any other possible "sensitivity" and leave himself eating chicken and rice out of a blender.

Gut health is such a strange thing it is difficult to suggest ways to improve with the products we have on the market past the point of controlling carbs in the diet.
Most the probiotics we have on the market are kinda just shit.

I would suggest removing all carbs for a couple weeks (even most vegetables) and seeing how you adjust. It might sound absurd but I believe it is worth a shot.

Since you've been to a few endos I assume you've had bloodwork to check your testosterone levels? Low T is pretty common in guys with IBD, since chronic inflammation directly affects the cells that produce testosterone. Good T levels reduce systemic inflammation, so that might even be quite beneficial. First check your T levels.

Anavar at 20mg is barely worth it. It's just enough to harden you up a little but, and give a tiny boost in the gym but not enough to give worthwhile gains for a first cycle. But with your Crohns it would probably be best to start at 20mg for a week or 2 to see how your body reacts and then bump up the dose to 40mg if you're all good. 8 weeks at that dose is fine if you're feeling good. Rather go the testosterone route though... Safer and better results. PCT for a mild anavar cycle - 20mg Nolvadex for 30 days is fine.

Howsit manne!

Thanks for the replies man. I want to try and reply to everyone so far so hopefully I answer all your questions:

1) Apologies, I made a mistake in my first post man I meant to say Gastroenterologists.

2) Diet lately: For breakfast I have 5 eggs, 1/4 avocado, 1 slice toast and coffee. Lunch: 1/4 cup rice, 2 chicken breasts, 2 potatoes, hand full of spinach. Supper: Some form of meat again (steak, salmon, mince etc.), big salad with avocado feta tomato spur sauce. 2 Potatoes and if it's a training day I'll have another 1/4 cup rice. This however is not consistent. My diet becomes very poor sometimes as I am currently doing my Masters while working.

Supplements: I just started taking BCAA's again as well as Collagen and Probiotics.

Training during covid: Don't have any weights unfortunately so I've just been putting bricks into a bag and doing squats, pushups, ohh and Romanian deadlifts.

3) Medications: The Gastro's had me on stomach acid suppressants and immune system suppressants which made symptoms worse. The doctor I saw after all of this told me that a big part of the problem is that my body stops producing stomach acid when I am stressed and that causes the trickle down of all these symptoms. So one of the goals would be to increase my stomach acid not lower it. This doctor was extremely expensive and I couldn't afford to keep seeing her or the medications she suggested but I've been following her basic guidelines which has helped.

4) I got some blood work done recently, I'm not sure if they checked for T levels but they did tell me they did a full panel blood check and I had my GP review it and he basically said everything is fine. No lung, liver or heart distress which makes this thing more difficult to deal with because some doctors look at that blood work and think nothing is wrong me.

5) So basically I'm looking for something that will physiologically help with the stress shutting down stomach acid which then causes undigested food particles to permeate the gut and cause all these symptoms (weight loss, ashtma etc.), and also regain some of the weight I've lost (20kg) but in the healthiest possible way. I've read that a 20mg/day Anavar cycle is not going to help me regain much weight but the reason I'm considering it is because from what I've read so far (and please correct me if I'm wrong):
  1. Low oestrogen conversion for a first timer
  2. Good product to assess how your body will react to anabolic
  3. Weight gain is minimal but the correct dosage will have minimal side effects while also helping aiding in stress management as it was originally designed for patients with Wasting Diseases

I don't particularly want to be dealing with heavy hormonal side effects especially while handling this disease. I've reached the tipping point where I'm done with traditional medicine and doctors and I'm willing try almost anything (with proper research and education) in order to get back to my peak physical health.

It's terrible going from a healthy athlete to someone that's struggling to stay afloat so I appreciate all of your help very much!

Keep biltong and low fat popcorn (ster kinekor lite 6% fat is a winner) around for when you're hungry and too busy or lazy to make something. 50g of biltong sticks is 30g of protein!

Check your medical records to see if your T was tested. The common issue we face is that the 'normal reference range' for total T stated on the test results includes the low range of what's acceptable for a 75 year old men. So at age 27 you should have total T of around 20nmol/L but even if you are at 13nmol/L which is very low, you would still be given the thumbs up and all clear by many doctors.

There's no harm in trying 20mg anavar, but if your gut can tolerate that then definitely bump up the dose.

Ouch, I'm so sorry to hear about the Chron's. An Endo I don;t think is the right person for Chron's. In my family, we have Ulceractive Koilitis, which is in the same family of diseases as Chron's.

My sister in in Australia, and has excellent doctors there. She is taking Colazide for her Ulceractive Koilitus. And she takes Salofalk as needed, when her stomach (gut) bleeds.

I know the feeling, my stomach is my worst enemy. And I can't even refer you to a good stomach specialist, cause I have yet to find one.

The first one I saw, immigrated to NZ. The last one I saw, put me on the wrong medication, and made me Extremely sick !

I'm so sorry. But make, finding a good stomach specialist, your number 1 priority.

Also remember, how do you gain weight ? ..... it is not steroids alone, but also ..... eating enough.

And this is the catch 22 with Crohns. Your gut is inflamed and sick, and your food absorbtion is too low.

I've been on this journey for 6 and 1/2 years now. It is hard. It is very tough. I am now searching for alternative methods, like someone who is the best in the field of accupuncture, etc.

PS. where do you live ?

Very effective yet so few Drs I know use this method yet. That and glutamine twice a day on an empty stomach. The drips could take anywhere from 8 to 20 (max) for the gut to be healed, you will do bloods after a few to see where your markers are sitting.

Last year, I did some research on Peroxide. You have various types / uses ... external and internal.

I had a slight accident, when the one neighbour's tree broke in half, and one half fell in my yard.
Me and my gardener were busy cutting up the tree, when I moved my hand, and he almost took off my left pinky.

It got infected, and one day, a pharmacists suggest I try Peroxide to clean the wound. It worked like a bomb, couple of days, and the pinky was healed. I wish I was taught that earlier in my life.

..... then I started reading about it, and found out that some people also drink Peroxide (but not the same one I used on my hand).
And I also found out you can make your own.

It might be a good idea to go read about it again.

It is a very contraversial topic, and some videos warn you to NEVER try it.

First time now I hear about the "drip form". Wow.

If I can "heal" my stomach, it would be freakin awesome. Healing as in, at least get rid of the inflammation, and have a normal gut again.

I know two people personally that have had their gut 100 percent healed. From not even being able to take majority of medication which was problematic in itself due to the most medication using magnesium stearate as a binding agent. The one lady had an "allergic reaction" to the binding agent making it extremely difficult to treat other issues she had as she would just blow up and break out. So most medication consumed needed to be specifically compounded for her and you could guess that was a very difficult and costly process. Luckily after which was supposed to be 10 drips went close on 20 but pleased to say all markers are normal and no problems with consuming medication to treat her other complications. This Dr is allergic to mushrooms and actually made himself extremely sick by damaging his own gut to prove to the medical board its success. He is extremely renowned in the medical world and wouldn't be using these drips as treatment if it was not successful or he would tarnish his name and reputation.
