Calve spot injection was created by Runner
I am a runner. I run between 50km to 70km per week. I also do daily bodyweight training. eg. Pullups, dips, pushups, crunches, core stability.

I am satisfied with the build of my upper body but i lack SIZE in my calves/legs. I do squats and extensions but not as regular. My legs are well defined and strong but as with most longdistance runners the are skinny.

Ive been thinking of spot injecting. Would this affect my performance? would only running and minimal weight training be enough to help enhance the size of my calves whilst on an injectable? and would a spot injection in my calve be the best way to go?

thanx

1. Spot injecting doesn't work.
2. I cannot see the reasoning behind a long distance runner wanting big legs?

1. thank you... as i do not know anything about this stuff i dont know exactly how much i will gain.

2. i dont want huge legs...just abit more shape/size. i dont want to use it to enhance my performance either. im a serious runner but im just a casual runner that has a day job. do not run for winning or any tipe of team. but i do run a 2hour 55min marathon and that isnt bad.

3. i cant see how adding maybe 500gm (max) to each leg will be bad thing. Im 194cm tall so that isnt alot of weight. but i think it might be just enough to give me that bit extra that i want.

Thats some serious running!
Calves grow in various ways.
For me it means working them twice as hard as anything else.
Extremely heavy drop sets until i cant stand anymore - but thats ok since i superset with seated calf-raises - as heavy as i can go with 3 or 4 drops in weight.
Then on another day i dont superset.
And on another i do more reps
etc.
Some guys do raises from level up; for me its the full range - heels on floor to standing on my toes.

The following worked for me when i first started out.
Standing calf raises:
As heavy as you can for 8 reps
Drop half the weight and do another 8 reps
Drop another half the weight and do another 8 reps. If you can do more than eight at any stage, drop a little less.

Seated Calf raises
Same 3 drop sets.

Lying leg curls:
Same 3 drop sets but remember to point your toes.

Do all 3 as supersets - directly after each other with no rest.

4 sets twice a week.

BTW - you might not run/walk for 2 weeks or so. Just until you get used to the training.

thanx jackrabbit...

i will definitly try it out!!!

but will only start experimenting with diff training techniques after next years comrades, to avoid injury. i was looking towards injecting as a last resort.

thanx
