Flu.. was created by andre300
Some advice please gents. I've been off gym now for 5 days due to bad flu and im on week 8 of my cycle. I am paranoid about not training. is it better to get my body healthy and take the 5-6 days off or must i see to it to get back in the gym ASAP?

Rather take those days off. Training whilst having flu etc puts tremendous strain on ur heart muscles, lungs and lung membranes.

...

...And this can cause you to have a heart attack.

Your body is under so much stress, your immune system is so busy working to combat the pathogen(s) that the rest of your body is weak. Also your body temperature is higher than 37 degrees celcius when you have flu and by exercising you increase your body temperature even more, thus your body's enzymes which work at an optimal temperature of 37 degrees cannot function optimally leading to all sorts of metabolic complications.

If you train while sick it will take longer to overcome the flu as opposed to taking rest for a few days.

ye, ive been sick for 4 days... i'm wondering if it has something to do with very low estrogen levels from the letro.... as i'm feeling like i'm just not getting better... I don't drink, smoke, eat junk food, take animal pack everyday... live a healthy life..

No matter how healthy you are, you are still prone to catching flu or colds. Gyms are the one place where catching flu or a cold is possible. During a gym workout, you become immunocompromised so all it takes is for one other person in the gym to be sick and you'll probably catch whatever they've got, especially with air conditioning systems.

I reckon you wait it out a few days, four days is not much, give it minimum a week (two weeks maximum), take lots of vitamin c etc and rest

Also, loading your body with medication at the first sign of syptoms will not help combat the pathogen right away. Remember that the pathogen has probably been in your body for at least a week already where there is an incubation period, prior to first sign of symptoms. So you need to give your body a a good few days of rest.

You right, and the best way to know this is listen to your body.. Yesterday woke up after 13 hours of sleep, so I guess my body needed it :)

Dam tired today, might skip gym again

Might skip gym...I think you should skip it, no maybe's. You'll do your body so much more by resting than you'll do gyming. I know its annoying, I know what its like when you want to gym and you cant but in the end it will be better for you.

You guys all need to start putting your health first before gear, its a trend I'm noticing here. You need to learn to be patient and listen to what your body is telling you, no one but you knows what your bodies are saying.
