Hi everyone!

This post is on behalf of a friend of mine. He is doing a powerlifting competition on Sunday and needs to weigh under 120kg. He is currently @ 122kg. It is important to him as he is going up against 2 of the best in his category, he also currently holds the SA record for benching (Does 245kg). If he doesn't weigh in @ under 120kg, he falls into another category. He also wants to know what he can use as a substitute for brown rice, apparently it's just too much for him. Here are his stats and current diet:

HE IS NOT ON GEAR, NEVER HAS BEEN. HE HAS BEEN ON CREATINE MONO FOR THE PAST MONTH

Age: 22
Weight: 122kg
Height: 169cm

He lifts with his powerlifting routine 4x a week, no cardio at all.

Training days (I think it's around 3000 Kcals)

Meal 1

80g Oats (raw) + 30g raisins
2 Whole eggs + 4 egg whites
70g Lean biltong or at meal 6
1 x Multivitamin
Flaxseed capsules

Meal 2
60g Whey mixed with water
20g Almonds

Meal 3
200g Rump steak, lean (Fry in 15ml olive oil)
20g Almonds
Flaxseed capsules

Meal 4 (Pre-workout, an hour before training)

200g Chicken fillet (Bake in oven) or 250g Hake fillet (Bake in oven)
350g Sweet potato (cooked weight)
150g Green beans/Broccoli/Mixed veg (steamed)

Meal 5 (Post-workout)

60g Whey mixed with water
10g Creatine with 250ml fruit juice
1 Banana

Meal 6
200g Chicken fillet (Bake in oven)
20g Almonds
Flaxseed capsules

Non-training days (I think it's around 2700-2800 Kcals)

Meal 1

40g Oats (raw) + 15g raisins
2 Whole eggs + 4 egg whites
1 x Multivitamin
Flaxseed capsules

Meal 2

200g Chicken fillet (Fried in 15ml olive oil) or 250g hake (Fried in 15ml olive oil)
150g Green beans/Broccoli/Mixed veg (steamed)

Meal 3

200g Chicken fillet or 250g hake fillet (Oven baked)
300g Sweet potato
150g Green beans/Broccoli/Mixed veg (steamed)
Flaxseed capsules

Meal 4

60 Whey mixed with water
10g Creatine with 250ml fruit juice
1 Banana

Meal 5

200g Rump steak (Fry in 15ml olive oil)
30g Almonds

Meal 6

60g Whey mixed with water
30g Almonds
Flaxseed capsules

PLEASE someone help tweak his diet or give a few tips on how he can lose this 2kg. He is currently quite stressed out about this.

Well im no guru... But if cuts all carbs from his diet he will easily make the cut. Even just n light natural duiretic and some cardio can achieve that...

How do you lose 6kg's of water in 2 days? He's quite scared to drop creatine mainly cause of power loss, but it may be an option. Dropping carbs might also work, but again the loss of power is a concern. Power is of great concern.

It's urgent cause how would you feel if your passion is powerlifiting, you've been training your ass off the last year to beat your personal best at every comp and set up records, and on top of it all have the opportunity to go international and compete overseas? If he doesn't weigh in under 120, he will fall into the 120+ category and go up against guys weighing 130, 140, 150 or even 160.

It's not a bodybuilding comp where he's gonna pose, no one cares how fat/ugly/pale/red/blue/pink you look, as long as you can deadlift, squat and bench without getting a red flag is what matters here.

Maybe keep creatine and drop carbs or drop creatine and keep carbs?

If he's as good as you say he is, then I'm very surprised that he doesn't already know how to dial in his diet. Especially as he has had a long time to prepare (he knows what weight he has to make and the deadline, well in advance), plus he must have people he trains with in his PLing circle that know how to manipulate water for the weigh in and then quickly pack on the pounds again ready for the meet.

its quite a story, drop the carbs and creatine. take hot boths with salt. lots of cardio in layers of clothes, no swallowing saliva. im sure youve seen what fighters go through to make weight? 2kgs is no biggie though, cardio and no creatine and he will be good

I would keep the creatine in, leave the cardio alone.

Drop carbs the day before, at that weight, he'll lose 2-3kgs over 24 hours easily. Weigh in. Then straight after weigh in, get eating lots of carbs again for bloat and leverages.

Don't you think that if he drops the carbs his strength will plummet? I normally lose 3kgs when I go off Creatine and 2-3kgs when I go on Arimidex. So I would do 0.5mg Arimidex ED until comp and drop the Creatine if the Arimidex is not enough. Avoid sodium and basically anything that gives water retention (except carbs).

Yeah guys - 2 kg's is not difficult.
Drop calories slightly, drink LOADS of water until the day before the weigh in then cut water and salt the night before.
Grab a mild laxative and sit on the crapper right before you hit the scales and you'll be fine

Drop creatine, double water intake, and stay without food for 36hours. Do cardio on empty tummy in the morning during the fast. Drink any fatburner that contains ephedrine or clen.

If he isint on juice then he wont have high estro which is what causes water retention on cycle?
So i dont see how adex will be of any benifit to him , or am i missing something ?

He has a training coach. One of the guys that his coach also trains and is apparently a diet guru, did give him a diet but it was like 7000 Kcals no joke, so he just said f-it, he can't eat that much.

Secondly, seeing that he isn't on gear, why should his identity be hidden, he has nothing to hide, run away from or be afraid of? Search Juan Booyse, look him up on fb or whatever if you need evidence. His latest record is 225 bench. Last Sunday he did a 245 with his coach. Here's a link: www.powerliftingsa.co.za/ He did the inter provincials and sa's, first broke the record with 205, then 225, this Sunday will hopefully be 245.

Thirdly, thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it, and I'm sure he will be ecstatic about it. Time to give him a call and tell him his options
