Vegan Whey was created by Itachi
Hey guys

A friend of mine is looking for a whey supp, problem is she is vegan. So it cannot contain egg or any meat. Does anyone know of a brand that is available here in SA?

Soy protein is probably one of the very few options she has left.

Are there like soy protein shakes? Cos soya source are sometimes too processed and I dont want that to be her sole source of protein.

Yes I was talking about soy protein shakes, but obviously it's not nearly as good as whey protein.

Bssa.biz sells the pea protein shake, not sure where one would get soy protein shakes.

Why cant she take normal whey, its not meat or egg as far as I know, just milk that has undergone processes to extract the protein or cant vegetarians take in milk either?

Well most of the 100& Whey shakes I have seen contain egg. I have read on the pea protein, not going to be an option cos of the taste lol

I'm pretty sure bssa's whey isolate & concentrate won't contain any egg product. It shouldn't.

Whey protein containing egg protein as well doesn't sound right. Why would they do that?

I think that went out the window the minute she decided to be vegan.

Im not sure what whey you have been looking at. You could even look at Evox 100% Whey it only contains milk and soy protein.

I think you misunderstand the concept of 100% whey, and probably don't know what it is.

A quick search shows that even USN's whey doesn't contain egg.

If you take a protein blend shake it will probably contain egg, not 100% whey though.

She's not vegetarian, she's vegan. As far as I know, vegans can't consume any animal products, that includes milk. (stop me if I'm wrong)

EDIT:- Yup, quick search shows that vegans do indeed abstain from using any animal products, including dairy. That means whey protein is out. Soy or pea for her. Sorry, but inferior protein is the road she chose when she decided to be vegan

Itachi you say she is "looking for a whey supp". Surely as a vegan she would know that whey is an animal product? Vegans can't even drink milk  . You sure she is not just vegetarian?

I'm not sure whether ISO Pro whey may be an option. I am led to believe it can be used by lactose intolerant people. Comes in fruit flavours - just pretty expensive.
