The average chicken breast contains +- 27.5gr of preoein per 100gr .
Does this mean for raw chicken breasts or cooked chicken breasts.
Why I ask, I bought some chicken breasts recently and weighted them before and after cooking. It lost nearly 20% mass. Must have been filled with brien water. That is just wrong.
Macro values are calculated according to the raw weight
Water is often added to meat products to increase the weight (and therefore the price) but you will always lose some weight while cooking even untreated chicken breasts so its probably not too scandalous.
Keep in mind that even human muscle cells are largely made of water so you should expect the weight to drop during cooking.
Time flies like an arrow
Fruit flies like a banana
Im just pssed of with this because the other day I bought breasts from a leading grocery store and believe it or not, after defrosting the breasts I weighted them, and it actually lost 40% of the weight. It was a kg packet with 5 breasts, but after I was finished it was only 600g.
That is a bit much, but probably a extereme case to be honest.
