Well to put it bluntly I am sick and tired of oats

I was wondering if future life would be a good substitute for oats? Or would you guys suggest something else?

I change to FL every now and then just to break the oats monotony. I usually mix 50g with hot water, leave in fridge to set, then add some a little milk.

I see there is a high protein product also available. Haven't tried it yet myself.

hi guys,

havent been here ina while but heres my 2c on this 1. I gpt myself the new high protein futurelife cereal but use it asa shake with breakfast and post training. I let 1 of the big boys at my gym know of the new high protein cereal thats out and he might just wana try it. Hes response was simply....

"they get their protein from soy and its not something you wana use when building muscle"

i asked him to elaborate and give reason for him saying so but got no response. So whats your take on that 1 may be our diet hero DJ can through in his mandela R5 on this 1. Thanx

Soy protein is known to elevate estrogen levels in men. that was probably the reasoning behind his statement.

Personally I'm not keen on using Future Life after it tested positive for 100% genetically modified maize and over 30% GM soya. GM foods are not proven to be safe yet and animal studies have shown some scary results.

Oats is fantastic. Low GI (36+/-), the protein that is there is a broad base of the amino spectrum, fibrous and micro-nutrients (manganese, phosphorus, selenium and a bit of copper and iron). The last part is important, cause it might be easy to get a slow burning carb, but I think oats is pretty unique and superior to other "breakfasty" carbs.

I've found it's difficult to get a substitute that doesn't have added ingredients to bolster micro-nutrients and help along the protein content that is not GM or highly soy inclusive. Sometimes to change things up I have maize meal or high-fibre bran flakes (with water), I sometimes add fat-free cottage cheese to get my macros. lol, otherwise I put the raw oats in a mill and add alkalized cocoa powder (not that sugary drinkable crap) when I cook it, tastes like friggen desert.

Although soy does have a bad rep in the BB community, it's not all that evil and I think it's a nice tool for ladies.
