You have 2 options:

1. Going clean. Starting out with the quality (boring) carbs earlier in the day that are lower on the GI scale. Then later on in the day switch to carbs in the medium range and close to workout, high GI like your desserts and stuff. Try and keep fats minimal when carbing up since you'll be storing/replenishing.

Option 2.
You could go with your proposed carb up. Then gauge how much fat you've gained...IF any. Your body would be hungry for carbs so doubt you will.

I'd try both ways though then judge which I prefer. Us young guys can get away with loads of shit when it comes to dieting.

How've your results been so far?

Started on 86.3kg. Three weeks later just under 83kg. Jeans are falling off. Can wear those shirts now that we're just too tight to wear. Muscle definition has greatly improved like I can see my tricep and shoulder lines all the time.

Today was carb up day. Was very excited about it yesterday and planned exactly what I was gonna eat and when. This was today's meals:

WARNING!!!! If you are on keto or any low carb diet DO NOT READ FURTHER!!

Meal 1: 200g Hackepeter with 3 egg yellows, diced onions, spices, and 3 white bread rolls with lite margarine.

Meal 2: Milchreis (Milk Rice) with some cinnamon + sugar and a cup of strawberries. Ate half the big bowl and was stuffed to the max!

Meal 3: Chocolate Donut

Meal 4: Decided to skip the snickers and get me some Subway. Got the footlong Tuna melt with lite mayo and cheese.

Meal 5: Muscle Pharm Assault 2 servings

Workout: Back and Hamstrings

Meal 6: 500ml Fat Free Milk with 60g Whey

Before bed: 60g Whey

To be honest the first meal was rediculously good. Best breakfast of my life. But all the other ones were just crap. Didn't really enjoy them and I had that typical sugar crash afterwards. Had to down 2L of water after meal 2 to feel normal again. You know I thought today was gonna be the best day of my life and happier than a first time Heroin user, but I just wasn't. Is this normal? Shouldn't one feel a sense of euphoria when doing a carb up day like the one above after three weeks of keto?

P.S: The Whey + Milk shake was amazing dayum!!

Lol, shame bud.

I get the same way when I've been really strict for a while. Body adjusts to the clean cals then BOOM, I have something dirty I've been craving and I feel like puking.

So I just finished reading Lyle MacDonalds book on The Keto Diet. Going to be doing things differently from now on. Diet is going to be 160g Protein (old 240g Protein) as well as the carb up day is going to contain much more carbs. More than 700g actually. ;) Going to change the routine to a 10 day split with the carb-up day at the end. Not doing FST-7 anymore either but rather the workout as prescribed in the book. Really excited guys!

What's the workout in the book?

I'm following a two day weights (chest/tricep/shoulders and legs/back/biceps), then four days low intensity cardio routine for the next six weeks.

Did keto last year, and did heavy weights mornings and cardio in the afternoons, but for around three months - lost 8kg. Wasn't to happy with te results.

So did a bit of googling and reading up on it. This was the most common exercise program I came across while on keto, so decided to give it a go.

I find I get tired quite easily. So I wouldn't say complete failure, but it feels like it.

I have a question for the Keto experts. Might get hanged for this.. ;)

At the moment it is very difficult for me to stay away from socialising and having a drink or two with new friends and colleagues. I am unfortunately at that stage where building relationships and networking is more important than dieting. SO my question is this: How can I plan my diet and training to minimise the damage done by the beer? E.g Should I try to do it on carb-up days? Or on the day after carb-up? Or maybe have a training session the next day? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Drink whiskey... Alcohol will slow your progress, but beer has carbs,

How about this idea... Is it not better to have a drinking session the night before your carb-up starts. Because:
1) Alcohol should kick you out of ketosis, which is fine because the next day you are out anyways.
2) On the day of your carb-up you are supposed to start carbs early before your training session, so the carbs from the drinking session will add to this.
3) Alcohol metabolism produces fats, which is very undesirable on a carb-up day.
4) Alcohol contains plenty of calories which you can“t afford to give away on your carb-up day.

Makes sense. Have a few dops on Friday night, carb up on Saturday so you can at least chill and enjoy the weekend. ;)

Please give me some ideas on what foods I can eat for carb-up day. I need High-GI, low or zero fat foods, and I shitload of it. So far I can think of: White Bread, Pasta, Bagels, high sugar pastries, dextrose, sugar, some types of pure chocolate.
