Preparing food ahead was created by tramacet
Hi guys,

So I have fallen off the band wagon with my diet, and yesterday I just decided that it is time to get back on track and work with a plan. Thus my question...

Regarding brown rice, chicken breasts and brocolli, how long will it last once cooked in the fridge or freezer. It must still taste semi-good as well.

My brown rice I keep for up to 2 weeks but I keep it frozen. Chicken breast I marinade before the time but fry them the morning, for the day ahead

I make about 6 chicken meals at a time every 3 days normally. I hate eating defrosted cooked food. Steak I fry fresh every night usually or I make my own kebabs and braai them and keep those for 2/3 days. Basmati rice is my main source of carbs to go with my meat followed by sweet potato. So easy to prepare so I make more every 2/3 days.

My wife will cook for me every night and I eat much more beef then chicken. Get a wife dude.
I prefer beef to chicken for the taste and it has all the 5 B complex vits, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B6, B12, iron and zinc. Between that its tuna time

Point though is its made nightly for the next day, condition is that I must do the dishes.

I have a wife but she has carefully untrained herself over the years. She's turned vegetarian as well. 90% of my food I make myself :pinch:. I eat steak, chicken and eggs every day.

Not a chance am I doing the dishes though.

I live with my girlfriend, but she is tired of chicken, so she makes random stuff for supper. Think I will prepare my weeks meals on Sundays as well, and she will help me if we do it like that :)

I do it maybe once a week, when there is barely anything to wash, just to keep her happy ;)

I also find beef to be cheaper, strangely, I buy a quarter hind at a time and have it cut up in packs of 5. Costs around R2000 at meatworld but saves ya money in the long run.

My steamer is my LIFE at the moment. Everything so quick and easy.

Every night I throw in 3 pieces of fish in the bottom tray and veg in the second tray.

Dinner for the night and meal 3 and 4 prepared for the following day. All takes 30min max :)

I have stopped using my steamer because of how difficult it is to clean :(

Hmmm, not that bad for me... Just fish skin that can be a pain but I give mine a quick wipe soon as I take my food out. Then once I finished eating, I clean it properly. Easier if you do it straight away.

Steamer too much of a hassle for me too. I either bake or grill/braai my meat every day. Also tried the whole cooking and freezing the meals but that wasn't for me either. So i make my food every night with the help of my wife for the next day.

Here is how it currently looks every day.

Whats in the small bags between the meals? Looks great though. I need to start prepping my meals better.

2 bags of oats. And preparing all the meals never take more then an hour. Only thing that sucks is the dishes after wards every night.

But it does help that my wife supports me and helps with the cooking and prepping.

Oh and the only thing missing in the pic that i also consume everyday, is my peanut butter (my pudding)
