Oats density ration was created by Furk
Hey guys,

So for the next 2.5 months I don't have access to a kitchen scale, can someone provide me with the density ratio of normal slow cooking Jungle Oats? Or a weight to volume comparison, my only accurate measuring device is a 50ml scoop. Not sure how accurate www.aqua-calc.com is, and not sure which oatmeal product is the closest.

Thanks in advance guys.

Why not just calculate it yourself with some experimentation? Density = mass / volume

I'd just do few measurements by using the 50ml scoop you have and measuring it a few times...you'll have the average mass for the 50ml scoop then calculate the density from there. When you have that density you can calculate the mass of any other volume of scoop or spoon...easy peasy

@heretic: Yeah I need a means of measuring weight if I want to compare it to volume. That's why I'm asking. There's 2 unknowns in the formula.

@pyro: And mass is? Only info I need :p

@Furk, based on the amount of carbs in 250ml (being 103g) and knowing that there are 57 grams of carbs in jungle oats per 100g that means 250ml is equivalent to just less than 200g of oats.

Answer I was looking for is 0.38g/ml (or the inverse 2.63ml/g)

So 50ml = 19g,
and 100g =263ml

@Pyro:

How: I asked someone with a kitchen scale to weigh out 50ml of dry outs.
