Raw vs cooked eggs was created by IronKobra767
Hi guys,

Been reading up on the benefit of cooking eggs vs eating them raw. The reason is I really cannot bring myself to put down 6 cooked eggs a morning, but can easily chug them down raw followed by 100g raw oats mix with my whey shake and a banana.

So far I'm finding conflicting information. Bottom line from what I can tell is summed up in a The Journal of Nutrition, vol 128, p1716: 90% of the cooked egg was digested compared to just 51% of the raw egg.

So as I understand it cooking denatures the protein, making it easier for our stomach enzymes to digest them.

What are your guys' view? How do you go about getting in the eggs you need? To my mind I'm almost willing to sacrifice the diminished digestibility for the ease of eating them raw.

Thanks MM. At work so thought I'd quickly post but understand it's always best to search first.

You can drink pasturised egg whites, they've undergone a heating process and infact they are the quickes form absorbed. Like MM said though raw eggs are a No No as they haven't been heated and most of the protien won't be absorbed so cook them.

I use the woolies ones. I've tried the eezi egg ones and they're a bit lumpy  it works out quite expensive so it'll depend on your budget.

Ok. I'll try out both brands if possible. I did a quick search and it looks like eezi eggs are only stocked in kzn?
