If you take in a fibre source its all good. Your body cant metabolise fibre (a carbohydrate source) so it doesn't add to your daily carbohydrate intake. I suggest you try eat veggies that are very low in carb, examples are baby marrows and broccoli. @Jayman, its also very important that you take a good multivitamin and mineral complex on this diet, VERY VERY IMPORTANT

hey Beesting, been doing a bit of reading and just wanted to run this by you, hope you don't mind :)
my diet will consist of around 50g carbs /day, 300g protein and 160g fat, giving me a daily calorie count of around 2850.
is this alright?

Train harder than the guy next to you and one day, no-one will be able to touch you

Its not bad but u probably wont go into ketosis. You can try it out though and have the carbs only during the day and when exercising, get the keto stix and check whether 50g carb will allow you to reach ketosis when consuming the carbs as I mentioned.

Its hard but after three days it will all be good. You shouldn't touch any carbs to get 20g a day, they will come from food sources low in carb eg 1 or 2 g carb from each whey shake, 3 or 4g from low carb veg etc which will actually add up to 20g without you knowing it

just to warn u i wouldnt go over 1.5g of protein per pound if your protein content is to high your body will convert the extra protein into glucose and fuel u... and u dont want that effect.. also u guys say that having a cheat meal is a bad thing?i did my first cheat meal on sunday with 1 large pizza,2 slices of wedding cake,2 strawberry swirl ice creams from milky lane,a woolies fruit bar and a little packet of woolies sweets.... i did this all in 2 hours and the next day i was back in ketosis, i didnt feel any different... dave pulambo recommends the carb up/cheat days for multiple reasons that u can google, and i must say that the only ill effect from this was the water retention but i am only 2kgs up from the day before my cheat meal so not much water retention really...my work outs have been good just like the first two weeks even increased a bit on my back today... u gotta see the carb ups as a good thing really...it will fill your glycogen stores up for the whole week. but only cheat for 2 hours,on the same day every week on the last meal of the day so it stops u from cheating again.... there are some guys on the muscle science forum that have also good experience with the carbing up / cheat meals, even our friend testodes did well with this... the carb ups will make u retain glycogen which can help with strength and energy for training....oh and i am down 9kgs in 13days of dieting lol... was holding plenty water by the looks of things but also my clothes are getting looser and my vascularity is out again wwwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooooo hhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooo

Just curious, do you have sticks to measure that you were back in keto or did you just go by feeling?

funny u should ask that inja,i bought the stix and even after 6 days it didnt even test positive for ketones. so i thought it must be the carbs from the nuts so i dropped all the nuts and substituted oil for those meals at the same calorie value and it still tested negative,so i was so confused i started asking a couple guys that have done keto and one of the personal trainers at the gym and the conclusion is i have got my diet so suited for me that i am burning up all my ketones, its the only thing i can think of cos i added my nuts and peanut butter back in and i am still feeling the same lol...so i do it by feeling... its working very well for me and i am loving it...such a smooth ride...

Shweet bro, like they say if its working for you and you burning fat then dont change anything.

Perhaps as an experiment on two consecutive days (possible non-training days) cut out carb completely including post workout shake. Then the morning of the third day, before you've had water to dilute ketones in the urine and before excercise which may use up ketones efficiently test yourself again on the strips?

Good work though bro, nothing like a good working diet to keep the spirits up.
