Hi Guys.
I would like to get your feelings on the following.
I've always taken my body fat at that machine in the Virgin active gyms but I really don't trust what that thing is telling me because if you take three measurements in a row it'll differ by sometimes 3-4%, which is shit.
So my question is where in Gauteng (West rand) is somebody or some place that's reliable for something like this.
I contacted the guys that advertise in the Muscle Evolution that sell body fat measurement devices and they gave me a few names of people who bought these machines but trying to get hold of them is more difficult than getting in touch with the pope.

I'm starting my first ever cutting cycle in 19 days and can't wait and I think it's important to track your progress when dieting because it's so easy to lose hard earned muscle.

Thanks

Vega you're spot on about the machine that measures body fat through an electrical current sent through the body they can be out by as much as 8% depending on how fat or lean you are and using calipers is probably the most accurate way to measure B/F% given the tools we have availible. Remember the more experienced the person who is doing the caliper test is the more accurate the reading and try to use only one person (different people =different readings),if you ask your biokineticist at the gym he should be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction

DITTO

Those machines do not work at all

The best way to measure your BF is with a Caliper ,, and have the same person take the measurement --- Bodybuilding.com sells a nifty little caliper called accumeasure which works pretty well and is cheap

If it's not working,,, take double,,,

Hey Vega5,

Conan and Batman are spot on - the VA machines are way off and very inconsistent. Your best bet is a Biokineticist and remember to try be as consistent as possible to get the most accurate reading. Best would be first thing in the morning, before meals and definitely before training as water retention and perspiration will affect the accuracy. Also, dont get too wrapped up in numbers. Use it as a means to measure progress but don't stress about reaching say 4% as some people look great at higher numbers and some don't.

Good luck ;)
