But you can get cross contamination from one egg to another so even if say one hen lays a contaminated egg, then all other eggs maybe be cross contaminated during packaging etc

Yes, this can happen.
But my point remains, NOT ALL EGGS contain salmonella.

But with this cros-contamination, only the egg shells carry the salmonella, so if you wash your eggs (and your hands for that matter) chances of poisoning are very slim.

Agree, but its safer to cook them at the end of the day rather than running the risk of getting salmonella poisoning. Also the other advantage of cooking your eggs is that you can only absorb biotin when eggs are cooked and not raw

Salmonella incidence is indeed very low, but I prefer to cook my eggs as often as possible (though there are times when I do drink them raw). If you drink them raw include the yolks or supplement with B vitamins at a different time point in the day and you won't have to worry about biotin deficits.
