if u wanna do a keto u have 0 carbs!! so no oars,no provita's,no tomato,no mixed veg.no fruit,no toast,no cottage cheese...so no this diet will not be sufficient.your carbs need to be closer to 20g a day thats all,u are sitting on about 150 with that diet. a ketosis diet is only protein and fats. u need to get more protein in,more fats in and less of everything else, what is your current weight and BF%?how old are u,how long have u been training?also careful if your body fat is to high and using estrogen tests,it can cause more problems in terms of body fat.rather diet with no steroids and then bulk up using your steroids. being in ketosis isnt actually fat burning, all u are doing is using fats for fuel vs carbohydrates,u can be on a ketosis diet to maintain weight, what makes u loose body fat is the calorie defecit that u create by eating less than u need..

if u want u can email me through the contact us tab and i can design your diet customed to your weight and bf% and goals,i do charge for custom diets but i think by the end of 12 weeks u will have made a significant dent in your body fat.

I have been trying to run a keto diet for the last couple of weeks but I'm finding my energy levels are very depleted with such low carbs. I find that I feel very flat and lethargic. When I increase my carbs I feel a lot better. How do you maintain a state of ketosis while at the same time keeping energy levels up?

@stuartf:
It sounds like your carbs are low, but not low enough to push you into ketosis. That's why you feel like crap. Your brain is searching for glucose (carbs), but there isn't enough in your body.

When you are fully in ketosis, your body doesn't use glucose for energy, but ketones. If you're in ketosis, your energy levels are always up, you actually feel on a high. I found that I was actually pushing heavier weights while on a keto diet, and using no supps, not even creatine.

Check your carb amounts, get it down low enough, and after 3 to 4 days, you'll be in ketosis.

You can substitute the oats from meal 1 for more eggs, meal 2 you can substitute the biscuits with whey, meal 3 take out the tomato (its high in sugars)and add in some fat, meal 4 you can take out the mixed veg and add in only green veg (no green beans)/salad and fats, post gym have whey and peanut butter/mac oil, meal 5 take out the mixed veg again and add green veg if you want/lettuce, before bed have whey and peanutbutter/mac oil.

Take out the sugar from the coffee, use sweetener instead

the first 3 days your body is still looking for glucose as an energy source, after that the body starts producing ketones, thats when u feel at your best... u need to ride it out for 2-3days...its not that bad if u start on a friday,u have the whole of the weekend to relax and then monday or tuesday u should be in full ketossis and u wont have any energy problems!

ok noob question:

after the keto diet, what should you diet look like carbs wise to keep fat at minimum? obviously you'd still eat healthy, but just curious.

only asking cos, if you coming from a carb deficit, after the diet wont the first little bit of carbs get stored as fat? yes or no?

Hi everyone!

I have been reading this forum for a while now and I finally registered on it yesterday so this is my 1st post! I have personally tried a Keto(Atkins) diet so I thought I'd share my experience.

I was weighing about 130kg before going on the Atkins Diet after reading the book by Dr Atkins. The book is very inspirational and gets you to understand everything so you know why you are eating what's prescribed. I didnt follow it all strictly by the book- what I did was read to get the principles and then apply these principles to my daily food intake.

I cut out all the carbs as best I could. The initial few days were the hardest because bread or rice was a must with every meal so it makes one wonder how can I get full without it. After a few days of restricting any carbs from my food intake I was finding a change in my energy levels. I could eat a big meal without any carbs and feel like i could go out and run a race! The lethargic and lazy feeling after large meal with carbs was no more there. Eventually i was feeling less hungry and fuller with each no carb meal that was not as big in size as when I 1st started.

I dropped down to around 121kg and i was able to put on my size 38 waist jeans (used to wear a size 44). This was done without any exercise as I had never been to a gym in my life. All that weight loss was achieved by just a change in my diet. So I can't stress how important it is to make the 1st change in your life to be your diet.

Unfortunately I went back to the old eating habits and put back the fat. Last week I was weighing 131.5kg. I started a milder diet to reduce carbs for a week and ultimately get back to no carbs next week. I weighed in today at 129.7kg but this time I have also started working out at gym 4 days a week for 2 to 2.5 hours a day.

Diet is the most important thing to get right and then all else follows :) Hope to make a good contribution to this forum. I'll start a progress thread with pics soon!

Thanks for sharing that with us :)

And that is why when new members come here and all they know is hey bru, hows some juice ek se.. I wana get big quick! When I read a line like that I feel all the energy has just been zapped out of my body. The difference is at least that guy found his way here, others would just be lead astray by other 'big guys' that have no idea what they doing and just have some good genetics, hence the reason they achieving what they are.

Well done for deciding to make the change again.

Just keep at it constantly and you will get ther soon. You are right - diet is everything.

There is lots of good info on this site regarding keto type diets and are all good reads. I can reccommend you look for dave palumbos diet and read through that. Once you hit a sticking point then contact DJ for some help - he knows his stuff especially keto type diets.

You can start a progress thread in the body transformation section.

Good luck
