Weight Loss was created by Pink Teletubby
Hi all,

May I please ask for your experienced opinions...

I am desperately trying to lose weight. After months and months of religious training, including gym work, cardio work, swimming and even Bikram yoga... I have shed nothing - NOT A THING.

So, I have done quite a lot of research on the web and have gotten myself the following to try and see if I can just drop the friggin weight already!

- Tertroxin 20mcg
- Venteze 4mg (equates to 4mg of Albuterol)
- Duromine 30mg

I take the Tertroxin twice a day - half dose in the morning before breakfast and other half after lunch. I take the Duromine and Venteze with the morning dose.

I am on a cocktail of meds for a chronic illness - all of which's side effects include weight gain. They all restrict the release of Thyroxine by the Thyroid. So all my efforts up to this point has probably just ensured that I don't balloon from all the other meds. Urgh!

Do you guys have any comments on the stuff I am now taking and or any other recommendations will be much appreciated.

Just for the record - On various forums the only answers I got were 'exercise harder, eat better, eat less' and all kinds of crude comments.

- I follow a strict low-fat, 1350kcal a day diet (I am 1.78m tall and currently weigh 92kg)
- My basal metabolic rate at my current weight is 2040 - thus I am cutting at least 690kcals out of my diet daily. Which in itself should (scientifically) cause weight loss. But alas - IT DOES NOT.
- I follow a balanced diet, including fruit and veg, healthy starches and protein.
- I gym 5 times a week doing mostly weight training (at 5am)
- I do Bikram yoga 3 times a week
- I swim about 2km's a week

I have really worked hard and have had NO success. That is why I am resorting to chemicals which I really hope will work. I value your professional and experienced comments and recommendations please.

Thanks a mil!

Include what drugs you are taking here so we can see the side effects and if their might be a diverse reaction in anything that is suggested.

I doubt using a drug would be the best choice but more likely blood tests done and results returned to get an accurate assessment of where the problem is.

Provide your training program and your actual diet

Also include all other medication / natural or none scheduled

That's very strange but it possibly could be some kind of thyroid inbalance. The meds you are taking that inhibit thyroxine release could be conflicting with the tertroxin that basically is doing the opposite and stimulating the release of thyroxine and triiodothyronine. This could be effecting your basal metabolic rate thus preventing you from burning fat.

Sounds like you are doing everything right - diet, cardio, gym and yoga are all basic ingredients for good fat loss, which makes me think that it is probably an internal hormonal/chemical inbalance of some sort.

I agree with pump, go and do some blood tests and I'm sure the results will determine the underlying problem.

I concur 100% with all of the above. You MUST get blood tests done. You obviously have a rare problem, and self medicating could just make it worse. Blood tests only take a day to get the results back. They can be a little expensive, my last tests cost me 2 and a half grand, but is money absolutely well spent, believe me.
Once you have had the tests done. Come back to the board and some of the more educated guys here can then give you some assistance.
You simply can't fix this by guess work.

This is when Doctari would be so useful, maybe when he finishes his new studies he will come back. I know for one I would have learnt allot :(

Pity I missed his era as I would have picked his brains :)

I agree with the advice given. Was just wondering what "healthy sarches" you've been having?

Venteze is indicated as a bronchodilator in the treatment of bronchospasm associated with bronchial asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR WEIGHT LOSS it causes heart and resparatory side effects if used when you do not suffer from Asthma.
