Late night food chowing?? was created by tbone
Hey ppl.

Have a little question about eating food late at night (Yes i know, not good!).

Im in the restaurant business so most of the time i only get home by 11:30/12:00 at night when i am working. By that time im pretty hungry so usually i have some toasted rye bread with low fat cream cheese and 1/2 tin of tuna when i get home. Am i making a mistake by doing this?

I can imagine this is not ideal but for the life of me i cant think of any things els that will be fulling and healthy at the same time!?

Any suggestions for a late night meal thats not gonna kill me?

Im far from an expert but i reckon toasted rye with low fat cot cheese & tuna is a heck of a lot better than these open til late fast food joints.

@Pump, lol yeah meat with a bit of fat and a bone in the middle:P

@DJ, jeez i wish i could chuck down that much food that late at night but i think that would mess me up!

Yeah Rowan, think i will ditch the cream cheese and move to low fat cottage instead with a tin of tuna. Numm numm!

STUARTF 'Try taking 20-40 g of casein protein defore you go to bed. I use Evox synergy which contains casein and has a slow release effect during the night. It stays in your body for up to seven hours, providing aminos to your body while you sleep. Should help with cravings during the night.'

This was suggested to me by STUARTF it seems to be working as I don't work late but I get cravings round about 1 or 2 am, no longer since Ive tried this.

What about just mixing a 40gram whey protein serving with 50 grams of peanut butter. That should be a good slow releasing food source. It fills me up for my midnight snack.

Pumped as long as you don't mean, 'mixing' them, because peanut better alone is bad, imagine it mixed with powder :D

@ Pumped, will give that a try. Does sound like a rather tasty before bed snack. Maybe mix in some casein with that. I see evox is sell 100% casein now so that is an option. Thanks bru!

Rather use my method as it{I think will be cheaper and surely more fulling}than casein.

Note the peanut butter is also high in protein.

So you'll be getting 12 grams of protein out of the peanut butter alone and i mix it with 45 grams of whey to make roughly 42 grams of protein in total.

rather buy basic supplements' casein. check out the website, the guy is a forum member and most of us use his prducts. its MUCH cheaper then evox or any other. i mix 20g casein with 20g whey and 20g suger free peanut butter before bed and it stopped my late night/early morning cravings.

@koe007 and stuartf: the synergy is good before bed but doesnt contain much casein. if i have money i take half serving synergy with half serving pure casein. works out cheaper plus it works better for a before bed meal as you get more casein and less whey isolate+concentrate. my 2c!;)
