I personally never go into ketosis.
Its havoc on muscle retention and havoc on the thyroid.

Jo1,look at some of the posts i have done in the dieting and contest prep section,i have posted up ways to work out calorie intake and ways to drop or gain muscle, there are 3 ways u can do things, Moderate carbs and moderate protein in a calorie defecit for as long as possible until your body adjusts and then drop your calories lower,u can do 3days low carb 1 day high carb, or u can do it milos's way with 4.4g of protein per kg of lean mass and then just adjust your carbs to what u are doing at the time, like if u are going to train eat carbs,if u are sitting on ur ass watching tv,then munch on celery and protein as u dont need carbs or fat as u are sedate and dont need the energy...i hope this helps u,if u need help with drawing up a diet feel free to mail me champ...

I like cycling my carbs in low carb, high carb days. Although I must be honest that I do still add in extra carb at times based on my activity level and how crap I feel. When I've got time I'll also go read those post DJ, as I need to cut up before my next bulk and maybe there are some useful new ideas. Thanks.

Yep it sounds like a logical way to diet. I was thinking about giving it a try. Now I just gotta find some time to sit on my arse so I can cut carb:)

Okay so I have a question. I was bulking for 6months and ate a cr@p load of carbs. Now my bulk ended on Sunday (11th Jan). I went straight into my cut which I'm not eating carbs, well except from fruit and veg which I eat with every meal and a 1 1/3c of cooked brown rice after a workout. Otherwise, I'm not eating other complex carbs. Is this bad for me? What do you guys think?

Viking:
The one thing I don't do is go into a cutting diet strait after a cycle. Think about it, you've had masses of anabolic steroids and tons of calories feeding and supporting your muscles. Now you want to remove the steroids, after which you already know you will lose some size. The only thing keeping as much muscle mass as possible is the calories. You cut those out, and your body will quickly chew up the muscle it is not used to maintaining to support your diet.
I do lower my cals post cycle, cause this is when I am prone to putting on some fat, but I keep my cals moderately high for a reasonable duration post cycle until my body is able to maintain its size. Eventually one gets to a size where they cannot cut without anabolic steroids because the risk losing to much muscle, and need something to keep 'anabolic' during the cut.
P.S. I think you hijacked this thread...:(

Hahaha okay first off thanks for the replies guys. However, I don't use gear :-). I only wish I could afford it. I'm a nattie lol. Well my bulk was gooooood. At the start of the bulk I weighed in at 77kg, at the end I weighed in at 88kgs but I do think I'm holding alittle water so yeah. That was after a 6mnth bulk of a LOAD of good clean foods. I also lost bf% so it was muscle that I gained.

Now considering I don't use gear, is the low carbs a good or bad thing? Thanks guys.

Bro you can work it out.
DJ Squirrel Man's advice is top notch for getting a diet in order. Follow the link -->
1) Calculate your total cals required
2) subtract 500cals
3) calc protein carb fat ratio, and how many carbs you should eat per day
Bingo, now you know...

This is just about the healthiest way to diet, and I presume your health is important to you
