main protein source was created by MikeM1
Howsit all,

Is it bad to only eat chicken as the main source of whole food protein?

I don't have any red meat as part of my diet currently, the only other meat I eat is tuna in my diet.

If I go out or to family then we normally eat red meat but at home and in my diet its just chicken and tuna.

Is this ok or is red meat everyday a must?

i also just eat chicken it does get boring though...
you will just have to get in your fats as red-meat contains that.
Chicken and tuna is fine.

I also mostly eat chicken and tuna, red meat kak expensive. Try to get it in for your last meal of the day if you can. I eat 250g Steak about 2 times a week as my last meal. If I could it will be everyday or just on training days

Thanks gents..

Ja it does get old quick. All my meals are frozen and prepacked, that does nothing for taste - force it down most days.

i wouldnt stick to just chicken or tuna, having 1 red meat meal a day is very good for you, cheapest form of red meat generally is lean beef mince, which you can get from your local butcher, if you buy for the month at a time i am sure you can ask them for a bulk price.

tuna is actually one of the most expensive sources of protein out here, if you think about the fact u are paying R8 a tin roughly which gives you 100g of tuna which is 22g of protein, so it works out being R80 a kg. Beef mince even from woolworths is R65 a kg. therefore the debate of red meat being so expensive is a load of bullshit and you need to break out your calculators. fish is even worse when it comes to price, never mind the fact that it has only 18g of protein 100g of white fish,so you need to use more at a higher price.

alternate protein sources through the day so that the body doesnt become use to just one source.

Agree with u DJ regarding the tuna price, I've done the calcs - pretty much just eating what's left in the pantry. Ill include some mince into my diet to replace the tuna - ill cook up a bunch of 'on the go' patties.
