When it comes to oats, what is best. Cooked or raw? Large flake or regular. Oat bran or just plain oats?

Need to have a meal now but don't have the means to cook my oats (which is large flake). Can I just mix it into my whey protein raw, add some peanut butter and drink it?

Are there any benefits to cooked as opposed to raw?

I always have my oats raw in my protein shake with my peanut butter, its yummy. Mix it 10-15 min before you need to drink it, then the oats is nice and soft and easy to swallow.

It's the same if it's cooked or raw. Only difference is the cooked oats might digest more quickly than raw oats

Thanks guys. Do you think there's a difference between the large and normal flakes? Other than size. And between oats and oat bran

Try not to over think your diet to much, it'll drive you insane lol. As for Oats, I just get the rolled oats from woolworths, I don't think it matters to much but did read somewhere to avoid instant oats and rather go for rolled oats.

Yeah I tend to get a bit anal about diets.

I also buy the big boxes of instant oats. Add it to my whey shake. Cooked oats has a slightly higher GI than raw oats

No problem pump.
I've adjusted it slightly to make sure it fits in a 750ml shaker bottle.
I blend :
120g oats
50g raw whey
100g low fat yoghurt
1 apple or banana (approx 100g)
350ml fruit juice (I find tropical goes best)
And a sprinkling of cinnamin

Awesome breakfast

Um, but im scared of needles...
