carb timing was created by getting big
Hi Everyone

Ok so I know alot of you here reckon to have carbs at breakfast, pre work out and post workout. Is this timing for carbs to lose fat or what? Some guys reckon to have carbs with every meal as it helps protein do what it needs to do? If you have carbs with every meal is this like a maintenance diet or bulk? and would having carbs only at breakfast, pre workout and post workout be to lose fat? very confused by the 2 opinions people have. Can any body help explain this to me? I think DJ is the diet guru here thanks.

DJ suggests break feast, pre-workout and post-workout so there's very little chance of it being stored as fat. I would not suggest carbs with every meal. Lots of guys like to have two carb post-workout meals (shake + whole food 1 hour post workout). Try both, just don't forget about your fats.

Look there is no set formula,if u want to split calories equally through out the day then go for it, I suggest carbs pre and post and breakfast as that means u will burn through the energy consumed...but that's where u should start,I mean I have guys like koe with carbs every meal cos we know what works for his body.

i hit carbs nearly every meal as well.. Apart from a chicken salad at 10ish and my final meal of the day.. But I do it purely due to trying to fit all of them in ha ha.. Go with what DJ said and focus on what works best for you..

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

I also take in carbs with all my meals for the purpose of spreading it out, although the bulk of it is with breakfast, pre and post workout.

I also read somewhere that the carbs assist with protein synthesis.

Carbs are protein sparing, look its all about your goals, I would say if you are taking in more than 150-180g of carbs a day then have that amount split into those 3x times, pre work out post work out and with breakfast, the additional amounts to be split between the other meals. So for some one having 300g of carbs a day 60g for breakfast,60g for pre work out and 60g post workout(in a shake form) then another 60g in whole food, then the additional 60g of carbs split between the rest of your meals. I mean koe was on 700g of carbs off season this year, we had to split his carbs to all meals but still had the bulk of the carbs those 3x a day.

ok thanks guys so if carbs are protein sparing would it not be wise to have carbs with all your meals? Also correct me if I am wrong would it be safe to say that having your carbs 3 times a day i.e.breakfast,pre workout, post workout would be best for fat lose while having carbs throughout the day would be best for max muscle development but you might gain a little fat in the process?

it depends on the amount you are eating everyday. If you eat like 280g of carbs that works but if you eat 700g of carbs like Koe does you need to spread them throughout the day.

Oh how i miss those high carb days with Pasta.....
As Dj said there is no set rule, when i started dieting i was fat and responded well to the breakfast pre and post workout, the leaner i became the better my body utilised the carbs. Muscle burns fat and needs carbs as fuel so the more muscle you pack on the better you will respond to the carbs. Dj has been working with me a while now so he knows what works best, start with him and let him work his magic, from my first pics he could tell my flaws and it did not takr him long to find what works best for me.
