Meal Frequency was created by Juice
How many meals a day do you eat a day? 3 meals vs 6 meals a day?

I'm on 5 - 6 meals a day (DJ Diet). Getting great results that way. Just depends on what time I get home from training at night. If I get home early enough I squeeze in a 6th.

I aim to eat evry 2.5 to 3 hours

Meal Frequency doesn't matter. As long as you hit all your macro nutrients in your day. Whether you eat one meal that might hit all your carb macros, or six it doesn't matter. The broscience about it speeding your metabolism has not been properly proven. Don't jump on the bandwagon.

Yes kissack this is true, but when you have someone like koe eating 5500 calories a day and 700g of carbs, having that all in 1 meal doesn't work. Yes its bro science but 99% of the worlds top trainers do multiple meals instead of one... And smaller carb meals through out the day keeps blood sugar levels more constant than 1 single carb meal once off...also multiple meals prepared for through out the day meals that you are most likely not to cheat on your diet as you will be eating every 2-3 hours. There is more to it than just "broscience" common logic works aswell too ;)

....... please film yourself eating 4k calories CLEAN in one sitting because me, I must see this.. Its got nothing to do with bro science, people on this forum don't subscribe to that crap. We are merely practical, and 5-6 times a day is practical no one mentioned 'metabolism.' You sound like a leangains guy..

Plus there is too much contention around how much your body can 'absorb' in one sitting for me to risk thanks. I will stick to 5-6 times a day, easy, safe and convenient, plus I doubt you will find Jay Cutler and co not splitting meals ;)

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

6 meals a day for me on a DJ keto diet at the mo.

I can't imagine eating all my cals in one sitting either.

Blood sugar levels would kill me throughout the day and I sure as hell would've cheated by the afternoon. Perhaps splitting the meals into 3 meals but not one. I believe some of the old school guys used to do this. But not one meal.

@kissack do you have some literature to back this up?

Even if you were able to scoff down 4000 or more cals in the morning of nutrient dense food, you would be a reck by the time afternoon/evening rolls in.

On this topic and risk of jacking the thread B)

I could understand this logic near the end of the day where you gotta squeeze in 2-3 meals before bed due to time contraints during the day. Perhaps trying to eat a meal every hour.

Whats the concensus on that?

I am doing it right now, missed about 3 meals today.. Need my calories and I am going to get them in, I am bulking though so couldn't care less about carb timing this close to bed..

send me your stomach. 2 hours apart moers me, I do it but I struggle, find myself sitting for 45min sometimes with the same plate of food in front of me.

4-5 years ago I really scoffed down protein. Really bought into the slow release protein idea for night time but couldn't afford cassein (as I was wasting money on all sorts of crap supplements that hit the market). So to compensate I ate boiled egg whites. I have a distant relative who used to farm with laying chickens so bought eggs in bulk at cost from him (miss those days). Anyway....at bedtime around 10pm I would eat 5 egg whites and pnutbutter. Then I would peel and divide another 5 egg whites and put it in a container next to my bed with a bottle of water. I'd set my alarm for 2am and sleep. Alarm would go off, I'd turn over and squash the egg whites in my mouth and swallow it down with water, turn around and sleep to 6am before I had breakfast at 6.30am. Became such a habit that I would automatically wake up at 2am even if I forgot to set the alarm. Mostly it didn't feel like I missed a beat of sleep. Lol.

Well that's my crazy story :P

Now that is a bit hevy Mcj haha

Well i think the big thing is my body has become so use to eating every 2 hours , and especially when i was busy with the prep my metabolism started getting so fast that i would get hungry after 30min after a meal . But with the new diet i got from dj , its a LOT more food , haha so i am still full by the time i eat again , but yeah like i said some of my days are a lot shorter than others , so i set my alarm , wake up and eat then go back to sleep :)

Eating 1 huge meal a day cannot be effective even if it IS possible.
What about keeping a positive nitrogen balance? You need protein every few hours for that.

Then there are the insulin levels mentioned earlier, not to mention the strain on your digestive system!!!!!

I feel like I eat 1 huge meal throughout the day cos I never stop.
