Hi guys

I have been a gym boy since 2001 . Went from 59kgs to 123kgs at 1 point with lots of gear .
I have made all the rookie diet mistakes in the past :
-using Mass Builder Shakes as my only source of nutrition ( due to my job on the road )
-doing a tune fish diet for a whole year ( which I become allergic to as a result )
And the list goes on .etc

During that time I developed some serious digestive problems .
Eating every 2hrs of the day , meant I needed the bathroom every 2hrs of the day .
( literally I need a bathroom within 10min of consuming a meal )
Needless to say , you can see the problem for someday that's on the road daily for 10hrs at a time .

I.b.s ( irritable bowl syndrome)
I saw dietitians , change my diet up .
No more diary products in any form .No more soft drinks or ciders anything with gas .

Still the problem continues .
I have been recently for a Gastro and Colonscopy .
The results came out positive , no issues they could see .

Is there any one out there that has the same dysfunctional digestive problems ,due to bodybuilding diets ?
Or some advise for me otherwise

Breakfast : 6 egg whites,100g oats and banana(protein shake if I did cardio that morning)

During the day at work : 3 meals all the same 2 pieces of chicken or fish fillet always with steamed mixed veggies

Protein shake before gym

Supper : Basmati Rice with either lamb or steak

This food staple hasn't changed much over the last 3 months

My diet is similar and I also seem to suffer from going to the toilet all the time. I thought its just from eating so much, it takes a while for food to fully digest so I thought its a build up of pressure haha.

But yes, I too suffer from what could be seen as ibs. Is this not related to high protein diets? Wonder how many other guys are using the toilet more often than average.

Not really from high protein but most likely high fiber.

Dumb hey . It shouldn't .

but I think it's the damage iv done to my intestines over the years .
All the stupid things iv done diet wise .

Seems using Imodium is the only thing that can give me a day of normality .
The alternative is to cut back my meals .
If I do that I might as well give up gym . Bcos then what's the point .

I mean if a Dietician and now a Gastroentorologist
Don't have any answers for me .

Yes probiotics was 1 of the 1st things I tried .
Trying to replace ,what I thought was lacking in flora bacteria .
Digestive enzymes etc. Thinking I was lacking something in my diet

Went through a variety of diff products and brands at dis-chem / may b all of em.

Protein shake: sadly on tight budget , so use evox 5xl or their pure protein

Started buying my Whey from Ondier recently

Have you had a stool sample analysed?

Sometimes people can be lacking in the right bacteria in the stomach like E Coli, you get good and bad Ecoli. Your stomach needs the good variety. If you're lacking or missing this good bacteria then other bad pathogens can take over and cause a whole host of issues.

There are protocols to sort stuff like that out over the course of about 3 months.

Alternatively, try Intermittent Fasting. Eating so regularly when you already have digestive health issues, never gives your system much time to recover. It's already inflamed, everytime you eat the same thing happens all over again and again etc.

Alternatively, cut out all grains for a period of time. Almost a paleo style diet. Get your carbs from potatos.

Also take 10 grams of glutamine 5 times a day for a month. Glutamine does fuck all for muscle recovery but it fantastic at helping to rebuild the stomach lining.

Some good points there DC Evo

The Gastro and Colonoscopy was to check for various cancers ,disease ,worms etc.
Which came back negative thank god .
I gave bloods and stool samples before that , which will be discussed with the doc on Tuesday .
Will keep you guys posted on that

Iv already started adding glutermine to all my meals , but that was more to fight catabolism ,bcos of the twice a day training .
But now you say it will help my stomach lining etc. bonus to continue with it . Thanx

Dont you mean the lining of the small intestine at the entrance from the stomach? As in the case of Celiac disease?

But yes - youre not alone. Ive also been struggling lately.

Studies have shown Glutamine to help protect stomach lining from injury, repair cells, heal ulcers etc, but in general its good for a whole host of digestive issues and anything related to Gastro Intestinal Tract.
