Any of you guys have some make shift meals you throw together when the pantry is a little empty? What goes down at month end if you short or you forgot to add something to your shopping list?

Im almost always bulking so im lucky that i needn't worry about eating too clean, i just need to met my calorie requirements and protein needs...

Just felt peckish after my dinner so i fixed up a peanut butter sandwich (4 slices brown bread, 40g peanut butter, 10g syrup) and 500ml of full cream milk... Mmm, comes in at around 1000 calories and 43g of protein. Not bad for a pre or post workout meal on a budget :) Thank goodness im not carb sensitive tho

Um, but im scared of needles...

Yeah normally a have whey and peanut butter about now, but my whey just ran out so had to make do... Wasnt gonna cook up any rice. Also sometimes its tuna and mayo sarmie. Bread is never ideal but im lucky enough to get away with it.

Was quite surprised by the total cals in my peanut butter sarmies

Its not the carbs u should be worried about, its the carbs and the fats post work out, the fats are gonna slow down digestion and also high carbs means insulin, and insulin and fats are a shit combination.

Ahhhhh. Fair enough. Well it wasnt post workout, had my meal before... This was more like my pre bed snack. Surely not enough simple carbs to stimulate much of an insulin response?

DJ, what are your thoughts on lentils? I know it's rated as a carb, but apparently little of it is released, and lentils are considered safe by some for low card diets. I often mix a tin of tuna with a tin of lentils for a quick meal.

go for it, i do believe that if you combine lentils and chick peas it completes the amino acid profile to give you a complete protein source.
