How much was "too" much protein?
I was eating 1kg of chicken breast a day before I started cutting which is around 240g protein. That excluded my eggs, whey and tuna, which I was scoffing down everyday. IF anyone thinks this sport is cheap... it ain't.lol!

But DJ is right if anyone wants to put on size they HAVE to eat, and the cleaner you keep it the better. I have learnt from the past, bulking up on pasta does not work.haha! it makes you fat and carry LOADS of water. Stick to oats, tats, and rice for your daily carb in take.

Love it how this post was about woman interfering with training... and it's turned into dieting tips and tricks. Who needs them anyways? OK I do... but only for one night... hey DJ? ;) Can't live with them, can't live without them.

skyth u of all peopl should know that one night stands are my fortee.... its a case of i am a braai,naai and vaai type of guy ;) for somereason the women dont seem to stick around for more than 1 night with the squirrel,maybe i should stop taking cialis and take it easy on them?

ok boys here is a 3400cal diet i just worked on...good for you guys wanting to gain mass....all clean calories so i dont think fat gain should be too mush :P (File Removed)

Just made some comments below to your daily protein intake.
I do 4egg whites + 1whole egg (+/-24g protein)
Muscle Science GROW (3 Scoops) - sometimes twice a day (twice a day = +/-100g protein)
2x 170g Can of Tuna a day (Can of tuna only has 100g once drained. 2 tins = +/-50g protein)
Muscle Science Optimum Anabolic (3 Scoops) (+/-45g protein)
200g Chicken (+/-48g protein)

Food: +/-122g
Shakes: +/-145g
Total protein: +/-267g

But most of that protein is from shakes. I would add more chicken.
I would replace the grow with your whey that you ordering. 1 scoop anabolic and 1 scoop whey after training time.
What you think bro? Also don't know what kinda budget you on

Tuna is a very good source of protein... I just can't stand it, prefer lucky star middle cut mackerel in salt water!
Plus chicken is much cheaper than tuna :)

Just a comment or two on the 3400cal diet

Peanut Butter: Use either natural or the yellow lid black cat, chunky or smooth it's up to you.
Cottage cheese: Use Fat free cottage cheese and those nutritional values in the diet are for 125g
Veg: I personally like broccoli (DJ hates it and would rather eat cat fur), but you can use mixed veg, green beans or spinach. Try stick to green veggies. Not so much peas, as they have natural sugars in them.

Try add in some EFA's (fish oils/flaxseed/primrose gel caps)... I am on about 15 x 1000mg gel caps a day.
Dischem sell a big bottle (365 1000mg gel caps) and will last you ages... depending on daily intake :)

I was under the impression for building you'll need the 50/30/20
but the dietician that looked at my diet used 20/50/30 approach..
WTF? 30% fats
Thats was partly why I needed the advice of you gents...!

ps: cottage cheese can become expensive..any recommended replacement maybe?

It all depends on the individual. I think DJ made that diet up to something that would suite him or the average joe.
You can tweak it to suite your needs. I would defiantly keep protein at the 40/50% mark not matter if you bulking or cutting... maybe even higher when you cutting to sustain muscle.

I think fats are good for you.. just not from Mac Donald's or KFC. Essential fatty acids my friend :)

Reason for cottage cheese before you go to bed is because it has casein in it and is a slow releasing protein.
You can use fat free plain yoghurt instead or a slow release protein shake.

ok your dietician used a 30protein 50carb 20fat ratio from the diet u emailed me champ,look your maintaince calories for your stats is 2900cals and you need more than that to grow so it doesnt matter the ratio but as long as u are getting in the extra calories bud...

my bored student calorie counter thing has protein pre work out as i assumed that people where training first thing in the morning but u are having a couple of meals before training meaning that u will have amino acids with in the blood stream during training (protein when broken down is amino acids if u didnt know that) now when training u want amino acids in the blood in order to help with repairing of muscle tissue so if have been eating protein through out the day then your blood will be saturated with amino acids already bud so u dont need to take in whey pre work out as there are aminos present but u want whey post work out as it is quickly digested and that will cause a huge saturation of amino acids and with the insulin spike from the simple carbs post work out will shuttle that nutrient rich blood into the repairing muscle... does this make sense?
