BACK PAIN - SURGERY

Gentlemen
Has anyone had a digital nerve ablation procedure/rhizotomy? Basically specialist puts a needle into the spine to kill part of a nerve that's being irritated by a vertebra. Very high tech and precise, guided by CT scans, MRI's, X-rays etc. I did a lot of research beforehand: most PubMed & NCBI studies give it approval. I did it in February. Now I cannot even get out of bed in the morning without pain. Surgeon's response is to prescribe 6 months of Celecoxib anti-inflammatories. Clearly a failure. I'm trying BPC157 and MK677. I would appreciate any opinions. Living without training is not life.

That's horrible bro, I truly can't believe how many people who have any back work done have complications with it.

I have a herniated disk, but beyond that my knowledge is very limited.

Is the anti inflams supposed to fix the problem or should they be going at it again?

I only know heavy hitters like lyrica for nerve pain but it's not a cure for anything. I'm not sure what the BPC or MK can do to help the situation?

Thanks Pump. BPC & MK have tentatively positive reviews in the literature.. I thought it's worth a try, nothing to lose. Re the surgery, surgeon is reluctant to go back in so soon, wants to give the anti-inflammatories time. Lesson I've learned: surgery is the last resort, no matter what the studies say, or how good the surgeon's reputation is

Can't believe shit like this still happens. After the above rhizotomy (disc procedure)I was sent home with a packet of painkillers & told to come back in 6 weeks.Doc said I'd be feeling much better. After one week, no way, couldn't even walk. Got a second opinion, including CT scan. Result: first diagnosis was bullshit – second Doc showed me my CT scan image with an infection like grains of rice running along my spine. Left untreated, I'd have ended in a wheelchair. Accepting medical science is difficult to master, if you take money from a patient, and send him home to basically vrot, you are in the wrong profession.

That's fucked up. Glad you caught it in time. Doctors mess up way more than we'd expect. You need to be lucky to get through surgery and recovery without some hiccups, in this country at least.

I can't provide valuable input, but I had a disc replacement and while it mitigated some things, I'd say I'm 80% the same.

Hope you find success. Considered a pain clinic, that's what my surgeon recommended when I said I don't feel any different?

Sigh unfortunately it's the same all over the world, only less so in the top tier countries like Finland and Canada. Doctors in general are @#$%^&*(. It's the handful of amazing doctors who keep up their reputation.

Gents, does anyone know of a specific pain killer I can demand from the surgeon at my next appointment? I have tried Tramahexal, Betapam, Panamor suppositories, Nurika, plus most of the standard pain meds. I sound like a wimp, I'm not. Been 'balls to the wall' training since about 10 yrs old - earned national colors a few times, broken a few bones etc etc. So no stranger to pain. But this nightly ordeal is intolerable. At this stage I'll try even "off-label" medication. Any suggestions would be appreciated - and kept completely confidential if necessary. Thanks

Did the Lyrica not help, what dose did you go to, how many times a day, in some cases Drs ramp that up to 200mg 3 times a day, but you need to be able to tolerate this stuff. I would assume Lyrica with baclofen at night might help, there is slightly stronger stuff than baclofen but the hangover the next day is horrible. Sorry you in this pain.

I'm on Nurika 75mg, twice daily: Tramahexal 100mg, four times daily. Barely feel the effect. From your own posts I'm cautious of sides, esp your nightmare with renal issues. I'm going to double the dose now anyway, and email the doc.

An interesting point: the bacteria found in my spine was cultured – Klebsiella, which is commonly hospital acquired. Just co-incidence that the symptoms began only a few days after the first doc was in there with the rizotomy needle? Some NCBI papers blame 'basic hospital hygiene' for these infections...wtf.. dirty hands in 2001??

Sounds awful.

You could ask about cannabis/cannabinoid products.
If you are in serious pain, you may want to inform him you are prepared to try it and if there is any immediate concern for your health due to other medication etc, due to some legality issues depending on the product.

If it won't hurt, you may as well try it, especially around night time.

I suggest the THC oil option + your current meds. It is a fact that the THC in cannabis increases the analgesic effect of opioids like tramahexal, but it does it without increasing the plasma levels of the opiates. So you can increase the pain relief without increasing the physical addiction and withdrawals.

I watched a TED talk a few years back where some Professor mentioned this so I looked it up. THE OTC CBD oil will do very little though. You need to use cannabis oil with high THC + CBD content preferably with a vaporizer or orally - this won't make you goofed like a joint.

Just don't take anything else that contains paracetamol if you do double dose tramahexal. That could be risky for your liver, and some form of addiction and painful withdrawal is quite likely once you're on 8+ a day. I had a rough time coming off after I had 6 successive surgeries a long time ago.

Unfortunately in South Africa you don't have access to to proper opiods like Oxycodone or Hydrocodone, and I'm not sure if you can get Fentanyl or Buprenorphine I doubt it. So from what I can see your best bet is Ultracet. It's just high dosage of Tramadol without the paracetomol. It worked like okay for me at least you get a bit of a trip to distract you from the pain. Definately need to take dosages higher than the doc will likely prescribe, as they are more scared of you becoming addicted than actually quelling your extreme pain, and honestly you're not going to get addicted after like a few weeks of usage.

Lemme know if that works otherwise I'll teach you how to make Morphine from OTC drugs.

We do get it, it's called targinact. I've been prescribed it at its max dose after a very heavy surgery, on its pain relief effect I would rather stick with synaleve over it. It certainly not the wow "I don't feel any pain" as it's portrayed on TV.
