So how do you guys deal with equipment hogs?

Currently the Planetfitness I go to has 1 smith machine and two squat racks. Normally they arent too busy, but murphy comes in and changes that when I have training to do in them

Todays example,
Need to do squats and leg extensions (superset, but not quite), So I slow my routine down hoping the squat rack will open up, but nope we have some insta famous peeps and two chatterboxes using them,
I ask how many sets they still have and get the usual, im almost done answer, So I move on and do my next excersice, and the next, and the next, eventually after about 45minutes they fart out of the racks and go chat elsewhere.. But sadly my workout is almost done and I half arse the squats.

Any recommendations for fixing this? I have even resorted to sitting near the machine and waiting (Only when its chatty folks), hoping this speeds them up but sadly it doesnt. This also screws around with the workout as your heart rate goes down etc...

Honestly, I refuse to train at any gym with bitch boys posing in mirrors and spending more time scrolling on IG than actually using the equipment they occupy.

One time I saw a kid yell "light weight baby" on a really light leg press and proceed to walk around flaring his "lats" - I think that was the turning point.

I typically found private gyms in the range of R300-400 a month, with more old school equipment a lot more enjoyable.

Have a look around, this made my experience orders of magnitude more enjoyable.

Come train at my gym, we have 2 black police man that shout light weight and yea buddy all morning long. Its quite a laugh actually.

Its no secret im not a small guy, so i dont mind throwing my weight around but also dont wanna be a douche

Usually just ask them if you can go in between their sets. You can then pick up the pace and the usual hogger will just back out and you are free to use it.

And if they give some lame excuse just be honest with them, and tell ask them to stop faffing and train so other people can use the equipment to....do this while giving them a bit of a thousand yard stare

Saw a rather large fella this morning get annoyed with someone supersetting bicep curls, deadlifts and posing

Big guyswent in, asked the guy politely how many more sets, Poser responded he wasnt sure, Big fella retorted with, well that explains alot.....

i giggled
