Sup gents and ladies,

Just want to introduce myself to the forums and share some of my stats,supps and training methods. I am all for contrsuctive critscm, so I can improve in the gym.

So for starters I train at the Virgin Active Menlyn, anyone else over there?

Age: 23 going 24 in March
Weight: 88 +-
Body Fat(I use one of those health zone things which never gives me the same result twice): 17%+-
Years training: 3 Years +-

List of supps: SSN Whey Protein(Morning + Bed Time), SPS NO Blast (Drink the whole serving 15 min before gym), SSN EFA, Biogen Multi Vitamin, SSN Cytomaize (Mid-Post Workout), ON ZMA (First time using it)

I been around on the forums already a bit, and see you most of you enjoy the benefits of the MAX OT training progamme.
So I started last night with legs, my experience? Definately intense, probably could do heavier but I was nervous squatting by myself. Looking forward to tonight. I am a firm believer that if you want to get bigger you need to go heavier. I just never knew how to do it, looks like MAX OT is what im looking for.

So I got some questions for you pros out there. I feel that im slightly out of proportion in terms of my bottom half being "smaller" than the top half. There is a guy at my gym which has a decent pair of legs and i over heard him say he trains legs twice a week. Now my problem is MAX OT philosphy is only one body part once a week? Do I just go heavier or do I go twice a week?

My last question :silly: :silly: for now. :P Dieting, I wanna be a lean machine but I just dont seem to get it right. Any low cost diet plans out there? I got a diet plan from some dietician but it works out too pricey most of the time. Any idea what can work? Or do i cut some supplements and invest more in diet.

Hey there bud,
Some of the regulars are out for the holidays so the forum is quieter nowadaya but welcome! :)

I must be honest I can't train legs twice a week most of the year, although I do do it sometimes. Usually however it just leaves me sore for to long and I feel I start to overtrain. But when I hit them I really hit them. Legs are my longest session and it really takes a wack of super heavy sets, and drop sets to get my quads screaming. Then I get in the car and struggle to drive home... So it them as hard as you can when you train them, and then if you find you recover quick enough to hit them twice give it a bash, but aways listen to your body.

Its pretty safe to squat in a squat rack, but you can also put a chair behind you (we have some that are low enough at my gym) directly under where you squat to for the heavy heavy sets. Then when you can't get up anymore just sit your ass down on the comfy stool... and scream for help :).

As for the diet, you'll need to take the weight loss phase more seriously if you want to shred up. Lets see what you eating now. DJ does diets as I'm sure you'll learn and alot of guys here on the forum rave about them. There is alot of info here and elsewhere on the net as well on how to perfect ones diet.

Welcome.

I also think 2x week is too much and will lead to over training.

I think you're wasting too much money on over priced supplements. Check out LSJ's website for cheap good supplements

Some whey protein, BCAA's or amino acid stack and creatine is as much as you need. Dischem range fish oil is cheaper and will give you EFA's you need. You can't go wrong with vit c, natural diuretic and has anti cortisol benefits, and can also be picked up reasonably cheap.
Use your money on meat and chicken

I take my BCAA before and after training. I found mixed methods of taking.

Some say on rising . Some say before during and after training.
Others a few min after meals..
????

Sweet guys, ill check out those raw supplements. How is the taste on that whey by the way?
I cant really handle the taste of whey for some reason. Hence I can only drink the strawberry flavour from ssn, its almost like nesquik. :P Any possible way to mix it up with something to better the taste?

Inja tbh I dont follow any diet routine anymore, I gave up. Now all I do is eat anything meaty.
I pretty much fail in that department, think I just gotta give it a bash again.
Maybe a new years resolution! haha :)

Well unfortunately if you not a lean machine naturally it takes careful diet planning to get there. If you suck at figuring out your own diets drop DJ squirrel man an e-mail and ask him how much he'll charge you to write you up one.

If you buy basic supplements you'll safe cash for healthy food :), the whey tastes like unsweetened milk powder pretty much, sometimes I flavour it but mostly I just drop it down the hatch with a glass of water, don't care much about the taste of the affordable protein... As long as its not poo that is.

On training days I take them before and after training, on non training days I take it in the morning and before I go to bed.

How many of the amino stack pills are you guys taking per day?

what have you used to flavour the whey? I also just throw it back but sometimes after gym when im feeling a little nauseous after a heavy session its a real battle

I'm also taking 9 a day.

You can use vanilla essence to flavour the shakes. I started doing that, but became too much of a ball ache and am just taking it plain

When I need to flavour it post training I use any commercial flavouring powder or even some powerade or energade I have lying around. It certainly doesn't taste great but it helps on those nauseous days. Pre training I sometimes make a cold coffee shake out of it using instant coffee powder and sweetener...

Thats a pretty cool idea, coffee shake. I love coffee, so when i get my first bag of raw whey im def gonna try it out.
Isnt there any sort of recipe guide for making great tasting shakes? Kinda like Kauai got that Bulk Up shake. :P

I love a peanut bomb! Just freakin expensive and I don't believe the values the put on the nutrition sheet! I like making a similar super peanut bomb at home!

Hey Guys,

Just giving some feedback after using Max - OT program religiously for the last 6 months. I also did some diet adjustments. Upped my whey intake with 1 more serving, before I go to sleep I chow half a tub of cottage cheese and 2 tbs of peanut butter.

Weight: 94kg
Body Fat(I use one of those health zone things which never gives me the same result twice): 15%+-

List of supps: Basic Supplements Whey(Morning + Lunch + Bed Time), SPS NO Blast/Vitargo Aftershock combo, SSN EFA, Solgar V2000, Basic Supplements ZMA/Glutamine/Amino Stack/BCAA and Creatine Mono with 4 weeks on/off cycle

So my body fat still hasn't really dropped by much and it is probably because of what I eat. Going onto a strict diet is probably going to be a major mental shift for me and I just don't think I am ready yet. Got a lot of other things on my mind. However I am going to be continuing my Max - OT program for another 6 months and see what happens.
