I'm sure this was an entirely shocking idea, but ten days out my leg is walkable, with only minor discomfort if it is in a strained position for too long or if it is over walked.

Still haven't checked it out though I'm considering a sourcing the money for a scan to evaluate the complete extent of the damage. The tear however is nowhere near as severe as the original injury that saw the ligament torn near in two and damaged a considerable amount of cartilage in coming weeks. That took over a month to even stand on without considerable pain.

Anyways... My entirely shocking idea that if I was seeing an over priced physio would be completely frowned upon...

I decided to test it in the gym. Now mind you I stuck to light weights with moderate to high repititions. I never went to failure as the knee felt weak before the muscles. But I managed 100kg squats and 225kg leg presses without pain. Overall I'm quite pleased with that :). Then I repped out on the extentions and curls. The only real pain I got in the session was heavy calf training, not from the movement itself but the added weight on the legs I think.

I think I will go back in another ten days and try it again. I will continue to stick with light weights for at least another two months and if the knee then feels good I will gradually start increasing the weights back up again in 10kg / session intervals..

Take it easy Inja, 100kg squats on a damaged knee is putting a lot of pressure on the joint.
I'd go lighter than that. Problem with squats as well, if the knee gives out, unless your in a power rack or smith machine, your going down. Even on power rack it can be a hell of a jolt. I would stick to leg press for now, provided its got a fail safe.

Yeah, took alot of arguing with myself to go give it a try. Might wait another 14days before trying again.
I'm trying to balance the sayings:

Never give up, never surrender

AND

Lose the battle, win the war

I was at a normal squat rack so yeah, woulda gone down hard if I was in the upper half of the movement. I had a chair behind me though, in hope that if it gave in on the lower half of the movement I'd land on my bum and the weight would go down behind me.

I really don't want to fuck it up, but I don't want to just sit on it as well, you understand of course.

I know the feeling, but I would leave the squats for a bit, leg press with a fail safe is ok. Also, I knew a guy who was doing squats-about 140kg-with a bench and he suddenly cramped and sat down from about half way up. He cracked his coccyx and had to have an op, was out for a while and never squatted again.

My quote-Live to fight another day :)
