If one has bronchitis should one lay off the weights,I have done so mainly as curtosy to fellow gym members ?but really when can one resume weights and cardio?

Yes I would lay off the weights. Gyming negatively affects your immune system and you will be much more immunocompromised in the gym with bronchitis. It will ultimately end up in you taking longer to recover. When you feel better, I would give it a week from the day you start feeling better before getting back into training

Not trying to scare you, but your body can't fight an infection if you stress the body with training that is why the best cure is rest, your body needs to save all the energy it has to fight off an infection. Strong antibiotics...doctors prescribe them as there is nothing else they can do. Bacteria have developed antibiotic resistance to several antibiotics and new ones are not produced due to costs. Listen to me, take off gym, it will do you good in the long run, its not what you want to hear but that's how it is so just accept it

I hear you ! Been in bed for almost 3 days now although did do light weights yesterday,infection only hit my chest today ,otherwise was nothing more than a headcold.

Will take a few days off and see how it goes.reluctantly lol couldn't come at a worse time lol

Yeah it sucks that we always get sick at the wrong times but what can you do, anyways hope that it wont take too long for u to recover

My Doc told me that once it starts moving down the throat to the chest its time to take a break from exercise.

That's what I heard to anything above the neck is fine anything below dangerous as the strain can force the infection anywhere in the body including the heart!
