Bac water out till 2013? was created by Toshiro
Hey guys,

I just found out most of the medical suppliers I use are out of bacteriostatic sodium chloride for injection and water till 2013. Some manufacture problem or something. :S

I found this: *************

Can I use just plain old sodium chloride for injection to reconstitute peptides then? This reads like it is ok. Wanted to double check.

My thought was that since everything is sterile, it goes in the fridge, and a 2mg vial lasts like 5 days that it would be alright. (i.e. not enough time to grow any bacteria in salt water in a week refrigerated)

Let me know what you all think.

Take care,
Toshiro

Sorry I didn't catch that it had links to purchase stuff. I was interested in the sections of the link that talked about reconstitution. Hence my question about solvents. A cut and paste of that info only is:

"Acceptable Mixing Solutions: bacteriostatic water, sterile water, saline 0.9% nacl, acetic acid
Recommended: According to the manufacturer, all of the above solutions are equally as effective at keeping freeze-dried peptides stable at refrigerator temperature (2-8 deg Celsius) for at least 2 months."

However, I ended up finding bacterostatic sodium chloride and it cost a little more since there was an outage. But I choose that route to just play it safe. Works great by the way!

Take care,
Toshiro
