Using Hcg for weight loss

Good Day All

I want your input on the use of hcg on a low calorie diet to lose fat.

What I have read is that hcg it-self does not help to lose the fat, but it helps to maintain more of the lean muscle, this is based on women.

Now will this work for men as well? or is this a waste of time?
