Legality of SARMS was created by Witwolf
As the topic implies. What is the legality of SARMS in South Africa? Nowhere on the internet can I find anything. With AAS it is straight-forward and thus I would personally enjoy having some clarity on the aforementioned. All I know is that it has been on the banned substances list for sports, since 2008.

If I have my ducks in a row, in the US it is:

*Legal to use under medical supervision for various medical conditions which relate to bone and muscle degradation.

*Illegal to sell it as part of a- or as a stand-alone sport's supplement.

*Legal to use for "research" purposes. Research being a very broad and in the case of SARMS, undefined term?

Please correct me if I am wrong. It always good to know where one stands in relation to the law with the use of various substances.

The "for research" purposes loophole doesn't exist in SA, nor does the under medical supervision or in liquid form grey areas.

This is my understanding, barring the well-known facts stated above:

1. Only some are approved for medicinal usage, ones recognized are MK-2866, LGD-4033, Testolone, and S4. I contacted South African Pharmacy Council, Food and Drug Administration SA, and Medicine Control Council to ask if they could shed some light. Will revert with feedback.

2. SARMs are WADA banned substances. Although I couldn't find it explicitly mentioned on their official website or list: Check it out here . PPAR Delta agonists is explicitly mentioned though, so that means GW (Cardarine).

3. Not permitted in sport supplements in the USA. Awaiting feedback for SA laws.

Interesting enough, no. I thought because it's a HGH secretagogue it would've had medicinal approval and use.

Gents,

the sensible approach is to regard medication without script as potential trouble. SA medicine control legislation is not the clearest, but contains 'catch-all' provisions which include most substances we use. If charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, raising a technical defense in a criminal trial is the last option. Think cost of representation, and calling an expert witness - such as a pharmacologist - to defend you. Think social and financial implications of being arrested and prosecuted, even if you are acquitted. Indiscreet behavior exposes your supplier, and other lifters, to unnecessary risk. All said in good faith
